How to Know the Will of God Part 7

Divine Guidance – Embracing Guidance 1. Recognize and submit your will to His sovereignty. 2. God wants us to know His will for us according to our spiritual nature. 3. God wants us to know the multiple dimensions of His purpose for us now. 4. God uses the hiddenness of His will and our desire to know His will to lead us into dependence upon Him. The qualifications for knowing His will and experiencing His divine guidance are the same as for every other facet of our relationship with Him: our healing, hearing His voice, knowing His peace and growing in dependence. This encourages us to dedicate ourselves again to cultivating quietness and learning to wait. As the Lord reveals His specific purpose for a given moment, He changes our beliefs, our perception of Himself, of ourselves and of others, and teaches us how to live as co-inheritors of the Kingdom. Eternal life is an expression of our spirit life now, and the Lord uses our need to know to bring us into dropping anything that does not satisfy as He does. In turn, we learn to accept His guidance on His terms, which separates us from others and draws us closer to Him and others who are likewise fellowshipping with Him.   The Need for Divine Guidance When we discuss knowing the will of God for our lives, and seeking divine guidance, there are two kinds of people we are addressing. By far the larger group is uncertain or unclear about their ability to hear and know God’s voice, let alone be able to distinguish His purpose and receive His direction. The smaller group are those who, for one reason or another, have confidence that they know what God wants them to do and are even now going about that duty. Surprisingly, those in the first group may have an advantage over the second group, as it is the first group that is most teachable.
