How to Lead UP When You're Not In Charge

Today's conversation between Chad Kneller, Martevious Young and I is in response to a talk from Craig Groeschel about how to lead UP when you aren't the person in charge. Here are some of the high points: Leading UP when you're not in charge is such an important topic since the reality is that the majority of people aren't actually "in charge" with regard to the official position they are in. We all have the opportunity to lead if we are willing to see that opportunity for what it is. Every one of us can choose to empower, trust, train and develop the people around us, but we must have the wisdom to invest in them and the humility to allow them to learn and fail! The most secure leaders are all about empowering others and releasing them to really have the authority to make decisions and lead!  You don't have to be in charge to lead! You can be a leader from wherever you ARE. Leadership is simply influence and people will follow a leader with a heart long before they'll follow a leader that just has a title.  Showing honor matters! Respect is earned -- honor is given.
