How to Make a Bacon Grease Fire-Starter

from The 60-Second Food Schmooze · host Connecticut Public Radio

Here’s a tip for bacon-lovers.  Next time you feel like making a roaring fire in your fireplace, don’t buy fire-starters at the hardware store. Instead, buy bacon at the market. Make BLTs, but don’t throw that bacon grease out. Roll up a single paper towel and place it in a paper cup. Pour in a little bacon grease. Refrigerate the grease-filled paper cup so it doesn’t become rancid (in fact, make a bunch of these fire-starters at a time) and pull one or two cups out the next time you make a fire.   The post How to Make a Bacon Grease Fire-Starter appeared first on Faith Middleton's Food Schmooze.Photo: ThinkStockSupport the show: https://foodschmooze.org/donate/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
