How to make one or two friends within a large group of people

Large groups can be intimidating! But if you want to get close to one or two people, I think you should do the opposite of what you think is the plan! (I'll explain.)Also, hang around the food table if you are at a party or a networking event. People always gravitate toward the food! And then, if you aren't talking to someone, you can look like you are examining the food, figuring out what to eat next!
