How to Not Feel Rejected When You Don't Get the Validation You Need

from Create with Elyse · host Elyse-Anne

46: One of the many reasons why we stop ourselves from pursing our dreams and become wildly success is because it requires us to get outside our comfort zone and face the "wolves of the world". By that I mean to face the reality that people may say NO to us. When we hear a NO, most of the time, we take it personally and immediately translate to "Oh I'm unlovable!" or "there's something wrong with me". As a child, we've been conditioned to behave properly and only when we do according to what our parents or caregivers want from us, do we get rewarded. So the rest of our lives, we live for these "reward" moments because it makes us feel loved. But the truth is, people don't have to like what we say or what we do. And it really has nothing to do with us because we're all given FREEWILL and we don't have similar taste right? Just like music, some people may like Lady Gaga and some don't. But it doesn't stop her from doing what she loves. Similarly, I don't listen to the same kind of music all the time. I've preferences based on the time of the day and my mood. But just because I like to Enya in the evening, JLO isn't going to get offended.
