On September 5, 2012, a British family of five on holiday in the French Alps near Lake Annecy decided to go for a scenic drive into the wilderness in search of a nice place to take a walk. Yet, before they could reach their destination, something caused them to pull over into a lay-by on the side of the road, at which point a gunman appeared and opened fire. In the end, four people were dead, including a local cyclist, and another was severely wounded. Unfortunately, the killer escaped without a trace, and the case remains unsolved to this day.
