🔥 How to React in a Fire – Surviving Chaos, Bad Decisions, and One Very Strange Evacuation

from That Was Wild · host Adam Macias

Welcome to That Was Wild, where Adam Macias and his favorite chaotic companions Clem Darling and Alex Crawford tackle the fine art of not losing your mind when the world is literally on fire. Because, really, what could go wrong when you’re trying to evacuate your home, but your significant other is busy making cat videos while the roof might spontaneously combust? 😱🐱 This week’s episode is all about emergency preparedness… or lack thereof. Adam recounts his harrowing escape from an impending fire, complete with his trusty guitar, podcast gear, and questionable life choices. Meanwhile, Clem and Alex wonder if a fire evacuation is the perfect excuse for purging all your memorabilia (Sorry, Red Hot Chili Peppers ticket stub, you're not making it out alive). 🔥🎸 Expect absurd commentary on emergency survival tactics, whether it’s hoarding collectibles or procrastinating in the face of certain doom. Plus, some deep philosophical musings about how to respond when your house might burn down... or, you know, just make a video with your cats and hope for the best. And don’t miss the Elon Musk discussion where they dive into his bizarre public moments (including that Nazi salute) and question the whole "genius" persona. Spoiler alert: It’s not as genius as you think. 😬🔥 🔥 Timestamps:  0:00 – Adam’s wild intro (and possibly a flex about his loft)  5:00 – What’s in your emergency bag? Hint: Guitars and podcast gear are non-negotiable  15:00 – The "I’m too cool to panic" approach to evacuation  22:00 – Clem’s take on moving, packing, and regrettable decisions  30:00 – Taking a moment to reflect on capitalism, real estate agents, and fire sales 37:58 - Rosanne’s ‘Daddy’s Home’ 40:00 –  Elon Musk’s Public Stunts and why some people think he's a "genius" 😬 Like, subscribe, and—if you’re in an evacuation zone—maybe pack your things a little faster than our hosts. Don’t forget to share the episode with your most chill friends (and definitely not the ones filming their cats while the flames are licking their roof). 🐱🔥 #FireEvacuation #EmergencyPreparedness #SurvivalTactics #ThatWasWild #PodcastHumor #FireSale #RealEstate #ChaosAndCalm #ElonMusk #PublicStunts Drop us a line - (323) 207-0387 Email you wild story at [email protected] Follow @thatwaswildpod on Instagram / Tiktok/ Youtube

The Last Outlaws Impact Studios at UTS In a History Lab season like no other, we're pulling on the threads of one of Australia's great misunderstood histories, moving beyond the myths to learn what the Aboriginal brothers Jimmy and Joe Governor faced in both life and death.Australia's budding Federation is the background setting to this remarkable story, that sees the Governor brothers tied to the inauguration of a 'new' nation and Australia's dark history of frontier violence, racial injustice and the global trade and defilement of Aboriginal ancestral remains. This Impact Studios production is a collaboration with the Governor family, UTS Faculty of Law and Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research. The Last Outlaws teamKatherine Biber - UTS Law Professor and Chief InvestigatorAunty Loretta Parsley - Great-granddaughter of Jimmy Governor and the Governor Family Historian Leroy Parsons - Governor descendant, Narrator and Co-WriterKaitlyn Sawrey - Host, Writer and Senior ProducerFrank Lopez - Writer, Managing Next Generation Energy Systems Cambridge University Background Stakeholders working with energy systems have to make complex decisions formulated from risk-based assessments about the future. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
