from Solidarity Sister! · host Kristin Wilson

Send a textAlmost 20 years ago Heidi Low held her 5 year-old daughter, Alison, in her arms while she breathed her last breath. She spent the next eight years reading and researching like crazy–trying everything from therapy to energy healing and so many more things in between. Most weren’t directly related to grief, but focused on personal growth and using her deep pain as a catalyst for something good or even lots of good somethings. One summer afternoon sitting on her back patio, Heidi had a vision for taking all she’d learned and what had worked for her and offering it to other parents who felt like she did. That vision was the beginning of ‘Ohana Oasis, a non-profit which has now served parents from across the nation with weeklong retreats using a curriculum Heidi created based on all the tools that worked for her. Ten years and 15+ retreats later, alumni who’ve attended leadership retreats are now leading the retreats for new bereaved parents.Heidi has seen how taking time away from everyday life–being immersed in a well thought out environment–transforms lives. Now Heidi is taking all she’s learned about creating meaningful and life-changing retreats and sharing that with others who have a heart centered practice they want to offer in an intimate retreat setting.I learned so much from Heidi during this episode about what the experience of losing a child is like, and most importantly, how I can better serve and love my friends and family who are grieving their own children. The journey of life, as I have learned, isn't always a direct path to success and happiness. I'm traveling down life's winding roads, learning to navigate as I go. Alw Ukraine - History in the Making Emil Juhler When I started the conversation series ”Ukraine - History in the Making” I could have never imagined where this journey would lead me. It all started in March 2023 after I got home from an exchange stay in Chile and felt, that I had to do more for Ukraine, than what I did on my social media accounts and on the streets in the spring and summer of 2022. I think most of us remember that initial period after Ruzzia’s the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Speaking from a European/Danish point of view it was a time of big fear, desperation and uncertainty, but also a time of high hopes, energy and big solidarity. In the very first conversation of the show with Veronika Netrebenko, she says the following about the feelings of Ukrainians during the Maidan Revolution: ”We understood we gotta fight for it, and it was something totally different, we felt different, we felt that we need to fight for it”. To a certain degree I believe you can say the same about what happened within the hearts and mi Sisters Cracking Up Abby Rodman and Julie Howard Any woman in midlife knows the complexities of this time of life have the potential to crack us. Fortunately, there just as many things that crack us up…and keep us sane. We're midlife sisters, psychotherapist Abby Rodman and beauty expert and coach Julie Howard, and we want to talk about all of it. We're with you — commiserating, crying, raging, and, yes, laughing all along the way. And maybe, like us, you've got a sister to share it all with. If you don't, we might just be the sisters you've been looking for. We talk openly, honestly, and (hopefully) humorously about social and psychological topics that really matter like relationships, parenting, careers, aging, stress, sex, health, and mental health. Our goal is to listen, share, understand, enlighten, laugh and, most of all, figure out this crazy time of life together — like sisters.
