How to Solve Homelessness? The Solution

from FriDudes - Getting Real. Pursuing Truth. · host DJTommyP413

Yes!  You are in!  In the last four years, California has spent 17.5 billion on homelessness and it actually got worse!  That is according to CNN and many other news outlets.  So if 17+ billion won't solve it and it actually got worse, how can we possibly solve this?   We have a solution.  It is proven yet many of you will reject it.  What is it?  Well, here you go...https://www.cnn.com/2023/07/11/us/california-homeless-spending/index.htmlFirst of all, too many blowhards are spewing their vents about a variety of issues plaguing this broken planet.  As for this one, please know, I am personally serving the homeless.  That's right.  The non-profit organization that I support and serve, overflowshowers.org is making an impact.  We currently serve 6 outings per month in Palm Springs, Palm Desert and Indio, CA.  Also referenced, check out Coachella Valley Rescue Mission https://www.cvrm.orgSo for what you are about to hear, please know I'm first hand in the trenches of homelessness.  I love and serve these people.  I see them for the daughters and sons that they are.  They have opened my eyes and ears to their challenges and now I get to share with you what is working and what is not.In order to solve a problem, you must first properly diagnose it.  What is the primary cause?  Well, if you listen to the government, you'll most likely hear them say "affordable housing".  I wish it was that simple.  If it was, then $17.5 billion spent alone in California would have made a dent.  So what are the primary causes?Addiction.  Addiction is #1 by far the reason most are on the streets.  Up to 70% of all homeless.  Alcohol, opioids, fentanyl, heroin, crack, meth, etc.  I see the pipes and needles.  So why don't they just get a job?  Hard to keep a job when you don't want one.  In all fairness, some want jobs yet can't or won't get hired due to their addictions.  Here's the hard part that any addict or addiction expert will tell you, you are not going to get an addict to stop until they really want to.  Most don't want to or aren't ready to stop.  Affordable housing won't solve this.  #2:  Mental Health.  Yes, addiction and mental health overlap.  Many that I interview don't trust the government.  A lot of conspiracy theories.  A lot of disillusionment.  It's usually always someone else's fault.  Anxiety, depression treated with illegal or legal substances.  Putting a bandaid on a massive head wound.  I'd say abou 15% are very serious mental health cases where schizophrenia and other major disabilities.  So blend the top 2 causes together and I would say that covers about 75-80% in the streets.#3. In transition.  That leaves about 20-25%.  They have a handle on addiction and their mental health.  They are really trying to get off the streets.  And they will eventually.  Overflow is wired with the Christian non-profits, churches as well as non-religious entities such as county and city services to all work together.
