How to Start a Diet and Stick To It

from Biblical Nutrition Academy Podcast · host Annette Reeder

Motivation to stick to a diet fails when you only have stats and data from "health experts". Don't try dieting again until you learn this. Weight loss can be a struggle. I know I've personally experienced it. There were years that I managed and lost weight so beautifully and then there are other years where I ran into obstacles, hindrances. I want to share this is part three on how to prepare to lose weight successfully and of course, we could add on the words and keep it off, but really once we do these steps, in the beginning, to prepare before we even get to dieting and eating, that part is just going to be easy. Right now is the hard work, which is our homework. We're dealing with the muscle that's going to make the biggest difference and that's our mind, our brain muscle. Now, if you've lived through the other videos part of this series, I told you you're going to need a notebook, you're going to need a journal, some type of notebook that you have set aside. Number one was: Do you desire change? You were to ask yourself that question, Do you desire change? Under that you were to write down what would it feel like to you to lose weight and then why does it matter to you? These are two key questions because they lead into part three, which I'm going to share with you today. We're going to take those reasons and we're going to turn them into advantages. What are the advantages of losing weight? So your assignment today is to write down in your notebook. You're going to write down what are the advantages of losing weight for you. It doesn't matter about other people. I realize some of this may relate to other people in your family. Such as I may be able to play with my grandchildren more. I may be able to just have more stamina. I just feel better. Have you know my back is strong, my abdomen is strong because I'm feeling better. I'm healthy, I'm losing weight, but these need to be personal advantages that you can relate to every single day. We're then going to take these advantages that you list and we're going to put them on a notecard and on this notecard is going to be listed. I want you to list your top five advantages for you personally to yourself to lose weight. Now I'm going to be very transparent in this. I told you that in the beginning and so because I do have some weight that I need to lose. I had been very successful when I first started my healthy living journey to drop 55 pounds and I've kept that off for the most part, but every once while I run into obstacles and I just need to finish this.  I just need to finish this race and finish it well. So I wanted to be transparent with you and I wanted to make this journey with you. So on my advantages card, I'll share a few of them with you. I will feel great in my clothes. Now I know I'm probably the only person out there that has clothes in their closet that are a couple of different sizes just in case, and so I really loved the ones that I was able to get in when I felt my best and I just did this a little bit too tight right now to be comfortable, so I want to get back in now so I will feel great in my clothes. I will enjoy life more. Just having those few extra pounds off. I will be happier. I will be in control because when I'm a little bit a few pounds over, I tend to get lazy about my eating and not as healthy as I want it to be.  I will be in control and that would be proud of myself and I'm not reading all of them to you because some of them are personal, but I wanted to give you an idea at the bottom I wrote my life physically will be more glorifying and that's really the bottom line. Is there anything in our life that might be hindering us from being full force ahead in our mission with the Lord? So if your weight is causing you to hold back in any way whatsoever from being full-on, on a mission with the Lord, then you need to deal with the weight and if you need help with just that mental mindset and you want to sign up for some coaching calls, we can do that for you. I have a whole team of coaches that are extremely skilled at this and can help you work through this. So let's review your assignment for today. You're going to take some of the notes that you wrote in your notebook the other day when we talked about why. Why is it important for you to get healthy or to lose weight? What would it feel like to you? Why does it matter? I hope you enjoyed today's episode. I am rooting for your health and weight loss success! Visit https://thebiblicalnutritionist.com/ to learn more
