How to Stay Present and Awake
from 60 Seconds of Hope with Horace McMillon · host Horace McMillon
Send us Fan MailHow to Stay Present and Awake Staying awake comes not from willpower but from a wholehearted surrender to the moment—as it is. If we can be present, we will experience what most of us mean by God…”—Richard Rohr Stay present. Stay awake. Stay in the moment. This, to me, appears to be a universal principle that crosses traditions and the intellectual constructs we call theology. The writer of Ephesians 5:14 declares, “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” But how do we do this? How do we come into this light? How do we experience God? Taken in the context of both this passage and in the context of the works attributed to Paul, the answer is to stay rooted and grounded in love in at all times. Further, there are some traps we want to avoid….Selfish ambition and greed, lust separated from love, anger, bitterness, fear, resentment, jealousy… all of these pathways lure us into the darkness by making false promises that will never be fulfilled. The answer to how we stay awake is to keep our hearts and minds, our words and deeds centered in love. #60secondsofhope#love #inspiration #motivation #selfcare #positivity #growth#positivemindset #positivethinking #positiveattitude #personalempowerment #selfcare #personaldevelopment Support the show
