How To Stop Email Spoofing

from Stuff Insider · host Jackie Miller

Emails spoofing is a type of email spam in which the message sent spoofs the sender's email. Email spoofing is the practice of altering a message to make it look as if it comes from someone or from a place other than the actual source. Spammers can also use it as a way to avoid spam email blacklists by sending messages to another person's sender address. The goal of email spoofing is to get the recipient to open the request and possibly even respond to the email message. This takes advantage of the fact that replies to fake emails are sent by the actual owner and not by the forger. The ultimate goal behind email spamming is to get recipients to open up and engage with emails, but it's not that simple. Although there is no way to prevent malicious people from marking email addresses as sending addresses, it is possible to identify which servers are used to send e-mails that are labeled as from which domains. By using DMARC monitoring and protecting their email address, e-mail senders can prevent spam and phishing from reaching subscribers and customers via their e-mails. Let's tune to this episode to learn how you can prevent email spoofing...
