Send us Fan MailAs a child I was taught to follow directions without asking questions and above all else, not to do anything that would bring shame to my family. Growing up in such a strict home was tough; I rebelled and made a lot of bad decisions. Those poor choices led to one of my hardest moments at a very young age; before I knew it, I was sixteen, pregnant and totally depressed; grieving my teen years and the adult life I had once dreamed about. High school became unbearable but thankfully I had some really amazing teachers that, instead of ostracizing me, showed me kindness in my time of sorrow. It was their compassion that helped me discover what I wanted to spend my future doing: teaching and providing students the same kindness I had been shown, while helping them learn. I was determined to become a teacher."A road need not be paved in gold to find treasures...", says Alan Brennert and truer words have never been spoken. As a single parent I was met with roadblocks but determined to find detours and get to my final destination. I worked hard to provide a good life for my daughter and myself. My parents offered me the world but I was determined to do it on my own. After building up my savings, I set out to buy our first home but was met with discouraging service; made to feel as though home ownership was an elite club that single moms weren’t members of. Eventually, I gave up but not before a new fire was sparked.Since home ownership was no longer on the table, I changed my focus to my college education. Over the next few years I married the love of my life, JR, we blended our families and found joy. I also graduated with a Bachelor's of Education degree from the University of Central Florida. With this accomplishment I could focus on the fire that was quietly burning, Real Estate: being an agent that helped clients see the dream could be their reality.Now, not only am I a teacher but I'm also a licensed real estate agent. I am living a lifethat brings me so much joy and after years of uncertainty, now I cherish my experiences and know that each step was a part of the destined path to a life full of treasures.
