from All Things Are Possible Teacher Podcast · host Desirée McGee-Greene

How to Use Assessment Conferences to Monitor Progress All Year Long! Are you ready to make conferring feel more doable and maximize its usefulness for your learners? Well, the first step to making conferring doable is to make sure it is PURPOSEFUL. You already meet with your students or children one-on-one or in a small group; so why waste time teaching something they don't need or something that is way too hard for them. Are you ready to learn a super quick way to monitor student progress during conferring time? This is what I love about Assessment conferences. This method of progress monitoring is a whole lot quicker than a long written assessment and gives you the chance to study a reader or writer along a progression of skills, considering a variety of possible goals.  Assessment conferences can set you and your students up to focus during future conferring time and independent work time.  Of course, all conferences offer some chance to assess. Yes, it is possible to get feedback every day from students about how they are working on strategies you've taught, how they are making gains towards their goals, what they struggle with, and what new learning they've taken on since the last time you've met with them.  So in today's show, let's dive deeper into assessment conferences because I've got 3 steps to help you get started in using them today. In this Episode, we will chat about: What assessment conferences are and why you should include them in your weekly conferring schedule A 5-step process to monitoring progress all year long 3 ways you can get started in using assessment conferences today Are you ready to get started?
