How to Vet a Turkish Dental Clinic? Accreditation, In-House Labs and Aftercare
from The Maltepe Dental Clinic Story
How to Vet a Turkish Dental Clinic: 6-Point ChecklistHow do you evaluate a dental clinic two thousand miles away, in a healthcare system you do not understand? Here is the practical checklist. The final part of our three-part series on dental veneers in Turkey. We decode what accreditation logos actually mean, explain why an in-house laboratory matters more than people realise, cover the structural problem with online reviews, and get to the aftercare question almost nobody asks until it is too late.SHOW NOTES:Four evaluation signals, in order of how much they tell you: 1. ACCREDITATION AND LICENSING (15% of the study's score). Turkish Ministry of Health health tourism authorization is a government permission to treat international patients, not a marketing badge. Maltepe Dental Clinic also holds ISO 9001:2015 (quality management systems — documented, repeatable processes), ISO 13485:2016 (medical devices), and ISO 10002:2018 (complaint handling). The complaints standard is arguably the most revealing, because it describes what happens when a case does not go perfectly. 2. IN-HOUSE LABORATORY AND TECHNOLOGY (15%, ahead of value for money at 12%). Outsourced fabrication means a courier, a queue and a third party between your dentist and the finished work. For an international patient on a fixed visit window, a round trip for an adjustment can be the difference between leaving with something you love and something you are told is fine. 3. TRACK RECORD. Reviews and patient satisfaction was the highest weighted criterion at 20%, but online reviews specifically are mostly written within weeks of treatment. Longevity was scored separately at 10%. Maltepe Dental Clinic reports 24 years of operation and more than 14,000 patients from over 85 countries. 4. INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE AND AFTERCARE (10%). The question is simple: it is six months from now, you are at home, something feels wrong — what actually happens? Answers range from a warranty document, to re-treatment if you fly back at your own expense, to an actual physical presence closer to patients. Maltepe operates a partner facility in London for UK and European aftercare. The ranking discussed reflects Prismoon's editorial scoring model and is not a clinical or regulatory assessment. Prismoon states it has no financial relationship with any clinic in the study and that no clinic paid any fee for inclusion or placement. THE FULL SIX-POINT CHECKLIST:1. Treat the 60-70% price gap as a rough estimate, accept it as broadly true, and stop researching price.2. Ask about treatment philosophy first, and get a specific answer about tooth removal.3. Check for Ministry of Health health tourism authorization and ISO certifications, especially complaint handling.4. Ask whether the laboratory is in-house.5. Look at years of operation and international breadth, not just recent five-star reviews.6. Ask exactly what happens if something goes wrong at home, and make them describe the physical steps.
