How to Work with Students on the Autism Spectrum

from AKKA Online Staff Training · host Mark DiNino

We face a whole new challenge as instructors. We need to know how to handle kids who are on the Autism Spectrum. The "Spectrum" as it is called goes from mild to severe. The mild diagnosises are ADD(Attention Deficit Disorder) or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperative Disorder), PDD(Pervasive Development Disorder), Ashbergers Syndrome, Hi Functioning to low functioning autism. This give you an idea of how the "Spectrum" works. This segment will give you a better understanding of what the conditions are, what causes them, how to handle the students in class, and how to handle both prospetive and current parents of kids with these diagnosises.
