I hope that by sharing these notes I will be able to receive feedback so that the learning may be extended to the general challenge of writing a new addition of other textbooks.I am thinking of the project very much as an example of project management.But it is not the sort of project inventing a new product. Rather it is the project of develop a mature product into the next generation of its time.It occurred to me that it has some of the characteristics of product development, including the necessity to take into account characteristics which will continue to define the output as a successor rather than a totally new invention.In films it might be compared with producing the latest James Bond movie or perhaps in computer games the next generation of a popular game series.So how to start? The product brief is simple.
