How are we able to take pride in ourselves and in the way we live? These are important questions. Everyone should have a healthy sense of self worth. For the Apostle Paul, a big part of that answer is for us to stop comparing ourselves to other people, stop judging other people, and start focusing on ourselves. What are our intentions? Are our actions coming from a good place? Have we taken the time necessary to learn or discern what course of action will deliver upon our good intentions? Once we have settled on a course of action, have we developed the knowledge, skill, discipline, and consistency to see it through? Then we test our results. Did the outcomes of our efforts bring about positive results? Is there anything we need to learn, relearn, unlearn, or change? Continual self evaluation, reflection and improvement is how we ourselves get better. It has almost nothing to do with what anyone else is doing. Let us get out of their business and stick to our own. That’s how we come to feel good about ourselves. I’m Horace McMillon.
