Hi, this is Pastor Diego. Welcome to the daily five. Thank you for joining us today. This podcast is designed to give you a short daily Five-minute word of encouragement to inspire you to think and act on God's word Hey everyone.

Welcome to today's episode on how we use our words wisely I'm so excited to be able to share this one with you And today I want us to focus on what we can learn from Joseph and the Old Testament about how we should and we should not use Our words when we deal with our family our friends and other people in our lives If you don't know about Joseph and the Old Testament He was a young man when he had these dreams and in his dreams He says his entire family bowing down to him and that makes his brothers and his entire family angry And that leads to this chain of events where he's sold into slavery and he gets into bad places and seasons in his life And he ends up being imprisoned for many years, but ultimately it becomes a blessing So I want us to go through some of the things that we can learn from Joseph and how he used his words Okay, number one don't brag because your good news is not always good news for other people When Joseph told his big dreams to his brothers all I did was make them angry and sometimes we have good information That's true, and it's exciting for us But sharing that information when someone else may not always be the wisest thing to do Listen before we open our mouths We need to think about not only who we're speaking to but also what they're dealing with at the time and how that news might impact them If you just found out you're expecting a child for example, that's good news But if you tell someone who recently suffered a miscarriage, then it might be best to hold off on that news for a while Remember your good news, maybe bad news to other people Number two lies are small snowflakes that turn into a huge snowball in this story No testament Joseph was always truthful. He had no need to lie to cover up what he might have done Nor did he have to tell anyone or any even more lies to cover up the first lies He told lies have to be followed up by other lies and soon they become this big huge snowball that destroys Relationships along the way one thing we learned from him about using our words is don't tell lies number three Give God credit where credit is due Joseph's example shows us how much he grew and he learned from the failure of his early bragging days when other people admired his new ability to interpret Dreams, he quickly pointed out that it was God who did the interpreting because God gave him the talent and the ability God arranged and placed all the circumstances and everything in its place for him to be able to use his talent and his ability And so it was God who should get all the credit for the good things that happened in his life Right, so no one to give God credit when credit is due number four watch your words when you're at work At church and when you're around other people beyond our immediately family members Perhaps the people we spend the most time with our our co workers or people in our church community And sometimes we spend so much time with these people that they're almost like family So it's easy for us to let our guard down and not be careful with what comes out of our mouth But Joseph learned to watch his words He knew that how he behaved and what he said reflected on the God that he served remember that number five know your place Joseph went beyond just giving credit to God for the good things and the talents in his life Most importantly, he knew his position and he knew God's position when his brothers approached him after their father's death They begged him to not take take vengeance and re-etalliate against them and this is what he said to them in Genesis chapter 50 verse 19 He says don't be afraid am I in the place of God? He knew he wasn't God or in the place of God He knew he had no right to judge, but he continues and look what he says in verse 20 and 21 He says you intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done the saving of many lives So then don't be afraid. I will provide for you and your children Joseph could have used his position of power to punish his brothers and take vengeance on him But he chose not to God has a plan and everything trust the process and don't get bitter I encourage you to go back and listen to this podcast as many times as you need to to be able to Remember all five of the things that we could learn from Joseph in the Old Testament about how to use our words God bless you guys.

We'll see you tomorrow
