How, When and Why I Use Low Dose Naltrexone with Endo, SIBO or MCAS Clients

from This EndoLife · host Jessica Duffin

LDN stands for low dose naltrexone. It is an immune modulating drug that also regulates the body’s pain relief system. It is non-addictive and safe, but it can come with side effects, so we’ll get to that - as thankfully, they can be reduced or eradicated entirely.Low-dose naltrexone works in two ways: it blocks opioid receptors which forces the body to increase its levels of other natural pain relieving chemicals, like endorphins.  But it also calms down immune cells in the brain called microglia. When these cells are overactive, they release inflammatory chemicals like cytokines that can drive symptoms like pain, fatigue, poor sleep, and brain fog, but are also heavily involved in endometriosis, so by dampening this response, LDN may help reduce inflammation-related symptoms in chronic inflammatory pain conditions.References:https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3962576/https://www.gidoctor.net/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1291965.pdf, https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17539894/, https://www.siboinfo.com/sibo-prevention.htmlhttps://www.gidoctor.net/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/1291965.pdfhttps://ldnresearchtrust.org/can-ldn-help-mast-cell-activation-syndrome-mcas, Does Low Dose Naltrexone help with Mast Cell Activation or Allergic or Histamine Reactions? | LDN Research Trust, Successful treatment of postural orthostatic tachycardia and mast cell activation syndromes using naltrexone, immunoglobulin and antibiotic treatment | BMJ Case ReportsComorbidity analysis and clustering of endometriosis patients using electronic health records - PubMedhttps://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10039621/https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33228882/https://ldnresearchtrust.org/conditions, https://ldnresearchtrust.org/hashimoto-thyroiditis-and-low-dose-naltrexone-ldn-paula-johnsonhttps://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7528597/https://www.siboinfo.com/what-causes-sibo.html, Lower frequency of MMC is found in IBS subjects with abnormal lactulose breath test, suggesting bacterial overgrowth - PubMed, Development and Validation of a Biomarker for Diarrhea-Predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome in Human Subjects | PLOS One, Autoimmunity Links Vinculin to the Pathophysiology of Chronic Functional Bowel Changes Following Campylobacter jejuni Infection in a Rat Model - PubMedNeed more help or want to learn how to work with me?Ways to work with me:One to one coaching info and application‍ ‍Endo Sessions: Single and mini-package one to one endo coachingSIBO Sessions: Single and mini-package one to one SIBO coachingLive and Thrive with Endo 2.0 DIY online courseMasterclasses in endo nutrition, surgery prep and recovery and pain reliefThis EndoLife, It Starts with Breakfast digital cookbookAffiliate PartnershipsmBIOTA -mBIOTA Elemental is the next generation of the elemental diet and is developed with leading gastroenterologists and food scientists.
