Governments across the world are reviewing information technology protection strategies as more sensational insights in the latest WikiLeaks' scandal continue to be revealed. In 2010, the Australian government released a framework to establish an appropriate security culture in government agencies, and not before time. A recent study of a New South Wales' state government information systems initiative that ran for more than a decade exposes how major departments – often responsible for highly sensitive information – struggle to keep it under wraps. Security efforts were found to be under-resourced, poorly structured and patchy in the rollout. Australian School of Business researchers say there's plenty of room for improvement.
