The African Union has been made a permanent member of the G20. The African Union now has the same status as the European Union, previously the only regional bloc with a full membership. Its previous designation was invited international organisation. The G20 includes 19 of the world's wealthiest nations  and the European Union represents two thirds of the world's population. Oliver Dickson was in conversation with Kwezi Mngqibisa is a Research Associate at the Centre for African Diplomacy and Leadership at the University of Johannesburg. Previously he worked at the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes. He was part of conflict management  efforts in Burundi, DRC, South Sudan, Somalia etc working on mediation and peace processes.
