About Katy: Katy Garretson has worked in film/TV production for 30 years. Her directing credits include last season’s BROKE and CAROL’S SECOND ACT, TWO BROKE GIRLS, THE COOL KIDS, FULLER HOUSE, THE ODD COUPLE, YOUNG & HUNGRY, REBA, GEORGE LOPEZ, SCHOOL OF ROCK, TITUS, GIRLFRIENDS, the new PUNKY BREWSTER reboot coming in 2021, and a bunch of shows you’ve likely never heard of. Katy is incredibly proud to have spent three seasons directing the PBS Kids’ series, SID THE SCIENCE KID, which was created using motion capture and digital puppetry. Katy has been nominated for a DGA Award for Outstanding Comedy Direction and several of her guest stars have been nominated for and/or received Emmy Awards. Along the way, she has also been an active member of the DGA – as an Associate National Board member, on numerous committees, and she also Chaired the AD/UPM Council for three terms. In 2012, Katy was honored with the DGA Frank Capra Career Achievement Award for both her long list of credits and her service to the guild. Beginning in 2013, Katy also produced a successful series of movies in Vancouver for The Hallmark Channel. Midway through her seventeenth movie of the series, though, her star was indicted in the college admissions scandal and... that was the end of that. She also took a break from showbiz for four years to be the CEO/Executive Director of the “I Have a Dream” Foundation, an educational non-profit for inner-city kids. Currently, in addition to directing, Katy teaches a graduate course on directing in the School of Cinematic Arts at her alma mater, the University of Southern California, and she hosts the new podcast MOJO GIRL MADNESS, now available on all major podcasting platforms.COCONU: Get 15% off with promo code: GROWNASS at grownasswoman.guide/coconu Support the Show.Let's Connect!
