La Asociación Valenciana de Esclerosis Lateral Amiotrófica (ADELA-CV) nace en 1992 como respuesta a las necesidades de las familias que se enfrentan en ese momento a una enfermedad prácticamente desconocida, constituyéndose como referente y representación de las mismas, aunando fuerza y esfuerzo para el aporte de soluciones y la consecución de derechos, garantizando una atención adecuada para las personas afectadas.ADELA-CV ha sido declarada de Utilidad Pública por el Ministerio de Interior, según Orden INT/962/ 2011 de 31 de marzo de 2011. Un proceso largo por los trámites burocráticos, aunque desde sus inicios ha contado con el apoyo y respaldo de instituciones públicas como la Generalitat Valenciana, los ayuntamientos de Valencia y Elche, las diputaciones provinciales y los hospitales de la Comunidad así como las principales fundaciones y obras sociales.
