September 23, 2019 / 17:15 / 42.931181°N, 78.867411°W / Hoyt Lake in Delaware Park / Hoyt Lake Fountain View / The mechanical din and textured rumblings of vehicles pervade the city of Buffalo, reputed by many to be a city of cars more than a city of people / Refuge from such an overwhelming static can seem elusive, but it is not impossible to appreciate moments of tranquility in the parks that abut highways – such is the tension that holds together life, anchoring us against constant flight from vicissitude / A dear friend and I seek refuge around Hoyt Lake at times, particularly as the rising tides of professional expectation threatens the small sandcastle walls we build so desperately to keep ourselves well / Amidst the permeating noise from failures, fatigue, and the fastidious pursuit of a profession in medicine, we have found a peace around this small body of water, within the vitality of a run, through the vivacity of our stories that transcend the quotidian present, and by the simple comfort of the visage of a friend //
