HR Happy Hour 409 - Insights into Development and Investing in Ourselves

from HR Happy Hour Network

Hosts: Steve Boese, Trish McFarlane Guest: Ben Brooks, Founder & CEO, Pilot This week on the HR Happy Hour Show, Steve and Trish were joined by Ben Brooks, Founder and CEO of Pilot, an innovative software-based coaching platform for the enterprise and the winner of the HR Tech Conference 2019 Pitchfest.  Ben shared insights on how he and his team at Pilot are making coaching and development more accessible, more timely, and more beneficial to employees, managers, and teams. Ben shared also how often it is the most successful and highest performers are least likely to seek coaching and development and offered some ideas and strategies to encourage these employees to find and make time for development and how organizations can support these efforts. Ben also talked about the importance and practical challenges of bringing more of your whole self to the workplace, and how being even a little more open, curious, and interested in each of our colleagues as real people can bring valuable benefits to ourselves, our teams, and our organizations. Additionally, we talked about “Blue Monday”, the third Monday in January is the most depressing day of the year, Steve was crabby about the weather (surprise), and the importance of curiosity - both about the world outside of our day to day roles, as well as curiosity about ourselves.
