In the article, and on the show, Peter argues that today’s approach to labor optimization can be detrimental to organizations, and increasing popularity and use of advanced technologies like AI are driving employees to feel less accountable for their work and their interest in contributing beyond their job then falls. Additionally, the increase of CEOs coming from engineering backgrounds has led to an increased focus on optimization at the expense of employee empowerment.
