Welcome to the Tweet Trends podcast. Hey, Evette, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evette, hey girl. And you are tuned in to Tweet Trends.

It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today. Happy Hug Holiday, let's get started. Today's holiday is a pretty awesome one because the cool thing is, the gifts that you're handing out are absolutely free. It does not cost you anything, nor does it cost a receive or anything.

And the reason being is, it's a hug. Yes, to say that we have dealt with COVID-19 for so long, but so many people are becoming vaccinated now that hugging people is not like a bad thing anymore. You can actually go around and hug people a little bit more freely than what we could say a year ago and be all right and not feel like, oh, I don't know, I don't know. But now, granted, there are still people out there who refuse to get vaccinated.

Therefore, they should be held at arm's length. Actually, I'd say two arm's length, give me my six feet. Yes, however, for the most part, people are able to actually share in one of the most awesome displays of affection and caring, which is a simple hug. So hugs not only feel good, but they're actually good for you.

And don't just take my word for it. There are so many studies out there that tell of the benefits of hugging. I read one where they're saying that the more hugs you get, the less severe your illness symptoms could possibly be. About how the oxytocin that's released from receiving or giving hugs is actually beneficial to you physically, emotionally, mentally.

There are so many different benefits just to a simple hug. And once again, it's free. And especially for children, hugging children is awesome because it helps with brain growth and even physical growth, that sort of thing. And even one that I read that I was actually shocked about was that even when children are having temper tantrums, giving them a hug can work wonders.

Now, you might be thinking to yourself, but if they're throwing a temper tantrum and then I hug them, isn't that like me giving them a thumbs up to say, you know what, have temper tantrums and I'm going to be there to hug you and love on you? Well, it doesn't translate that way. Basically, it's a physical thing dealing with your hormones and other fluids and stuff in your body where cortisol levels go up in stressful situations in which a temper tantrum would be. The hug and the oxytocin helps to bring it back down.

So you're not really giving them a reward for bad behavior. In essence, you're regulating them. You're helping them to regulate because as a child, regulation of emotions, they're not that sophisticated at that point where they can do that. So they need assistance, they need help.

And you giving them that hug supports them, shows them love and helps them to better regulate those emotions and those various hormones that get released into their bodies. Although hugs are really awesome, there is another point we have to keep in mind also. And that we should never require or make a child give someone else a hug or a kiss or anything like that. Because it's all about autonomy and consent.

And if we're trying to teach that to our children, first off, we need to be teaching it as soon as possible, as early as possible. Kids need to know that no is okay to say and they should expect the people to hear that and listen, take heed and do as they ask or have requested not to be done. Simple as that. Because what happens when you then force a child to give someone a hug or a kiss, then basically you're telling them that their feelings and emotions about their own body are lesser than the other person's feelings and emotions.

Like I have to cater to this other person because they're better than me. They're higher than me, they rank higher than me. And the sad thing is that was pretty much how many of us were raised, that you respect your elders. And should you go around your family during holiday time and one of your aunts or great aunts or somebody comes to town, hadn't seen them in a long time.

And the first thing they wanna do is hug you because that's how we've kind of been just as a society, that's how we greet people with hugs and handshakes and stuff like that very physical. And the thing is, I honestly and truthfully believe that children are more in tune with the different auras of people, the things that are around people, the energy that they give up, I believe that children can feel that and they know. And so if there's somebody they shy away from, you know what, let them shy away from them. If you feel like you have to have an excuse, then make up some excuses ahead of time knowing that your child may or may not hug everyone that comes around with their arms wide open.

You should never require them to go and do something against their will because you're basically teaching them that they don't matter as much as you might try to make them feel like they do. Okay, well, wait, news flash. Did you know that there is such thing as a professional cuddler? Yes, I just came from a website called Cuddless, C-U-D-D-L-I-S-T.com.

And you can search for a professional cuddler in your area. I found two in my area, one is certified, the other one is trained. The certified young lady charges $175 an hour. The girl that was just trained, she charges $100 an hour, but their whole purpose and goal is to cuddle and just hold people.

I was today years old when I heard that one, OMG, a professional cuddler. Check it out, please, C-U-D-D-L-I-S-T.com. All righty, well that was today's episode of Tweet Trends. For this Hug Holiday, why not go out and share some consensual hugs with people?

Now, because I know and you know, we both know, don't act like you don't know, but there are some people out there that you just choose not to be that close to. You don't want to exchange nothing, no bad spirits, no bad energy with people, and to get that close to somebody, there has got to be an exchange of something. And so, make sure that you're just not running around hugging people all willy-nilly. When we celebrate this Hug Holiday, I want you to make sure that these are the most impactful loving hugs that you are handing out to people that you really and truly love, honor, respect, and that they are open to receiving that from you.

All right, if you've got pictures, by all means, take some selfies of these hugs that are going on today on this Hug Holiday, share them with me at HEVAT, that's at H-E-E-V-E-T-T-E. You can do that on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, wherever you do your social media thing. Use the hashtag tweet trends, and I'll be sure to see it, and I'm gonna like it and love it and share it if I can. All right, but in the meanwhile, enjoy your hugs, enjoy the holiday, and I'll see you back here again on Thursday.

Bye.
