He will rescue them from the Philistines, for I have looked down on my people in mercy and have heard their cry.” When Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said, “That’s the man I told you about! He will rule my people.”“1 Samuel 9:15-17 NLTSeek the Lord’s Counsel 1 Samuel 9:6 NLT* God’s anointing find you doing a mundane task * What’s so special about looking for donkeys?* Saul started well by seeking the Lords help for finding a lost donkey * You may be looking for God’s counsel in your marriage and step in to your anointing * I came to church because I was sick and I got my healing and anointing * I came to church because my children were misbehaving and I needed Devine intervention and somehow stumbled into my anointing moment Saul depended on God for small task such as finding a donkey later on made a lot of major decisions without God’s counsel. Good things About Saul1 Samuel 10:24-27 NLT* Saul ignored the scoundrels who were opposing his appointment as a king.* How you react to opposition determines your success in leadership * Saul brought people together regardless of the different opinions about his leadership 1 Samuel 11:1-11 NLT* God inspired anger * Saul went on to fight king Nahash (The Ammonite) and defeated him* Rescuing the oppressed* Putting people he is leading ahead of his own interests (that how we should lead)”Then the people exclaimed to Samuel, “Now where are those men who said, ‘Why should Saul rule over us?’ Bring them here, and we will kill them!” But Saul replied, “No one will be executed today, for today the Lord has rescued Israel!”“1 Samuel 11:12-13 NLT* He showed mercy to the rebellious people InsecuritiesSaul thought the assignment of being a king was about him and failed to see a bigger picture4 Negative Result of in-secured leadership:1. Unreasonable demands 2. Disrespect to others 3. Failing to follow and respect protocol 4. Threatened by subordinatesClosure * Gods plan has always been about our rescue from oppression * He used Saul as His first choice to rescue the Reubenites from king Nahash of Ammon * He will surely save us from sin and bondage Amen
