Cain’s anger at God’s rejection of his offering turns against Abel, exposing how sin fractures relationships with both God and other people. God’s question about Abel makes the answer clear: people are responsible to guard and care for one another. Real community is hard and costly. Through Christ’s self-sacrifice, God reconciles people to Himself and creates the church as a renewed community.
