from State of Survival Podcast · host State Of Survival Podcast

State of Survival Episode 77Dive deep into the world of HumanitZ as we explore its intricate map design! This discussion focuses on the game's handcrafted maps versus the potential of procedural generation.Key Topics Covered:Handcrafted Detail: Discover the care and visual storytelling embedded in HumanitZ's towns and locations. We discuss how hand-designed areas allow for unique environmental narratives, from spray-painted warnings near military checkpoints to strategically placed barricades that impact gameplay.Procedural Generation Debate: Could procedural generation enhance HumanitZ? We weigh the pros and cons, considering if it could create larger maps or more dynamic elements like bandit camps and the terrain between points of interest, without losing the charm of handcrafted design.Evolving World: Learn how the HumanitZ developers frequently update the open world, adding new buildings and areas (like the prison location), sometimes faster than the in-game map can keep up! We look at how some locations seem designed for future content and player creativity.Gameplay Impact: See how map features like roadblocks and potential ambush sites created by hostile NPCs directly influence the survival game experience, adding challenge and realism.Join the conversation about HumanitZ's unique approach to world-building. This Impact Studios production is a collaboration with the Governor family, UTS Faculty of Law and Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research. The Last Outlaws teamKatherine Biber - UTS Law Professor and Chief InvestigatorAunty Loretta Parsley - Great-granddaughter of Jimmy Governor and the Governor Family Historian Leroy Parsons - Governor descendant, Narrator and Co-WriterKaitlyn Sawrey - Host, Writer and Senior ProducerFrank Lopez - Writer, Managing Next Generation Energy Systems Cambridge University Background Stakeholders working with energy systems have to make complex decisions formulated from risk-based assessments about the future. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation. This knowledge exchange workshop was part of the four months Res Not All At Once Kendall Weihe Two guys talking shop once a week. Mostly about the intersection of technology and money.
