Humbled to the Cross: Obedience, Community, and the Discipline of Listening

In today’s episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we are invited to slow down and look closely at the heart of the New Covenant. In the First Pour, we reflect on Philippians 2:8 and the humility of Christ, who chose obedience even when it led to the cross. We are reminded that our salvation rests not on our performance, but on His finished work, and that true greatness in Christ is found in surrender, not recognition.   In the Second Pour, we celebrate the life of our school community with a birthday greeting for Alexandra, enjoy a comforting lunch of BBQ meatballs and mashed potatoes, and cheer on our Middle School basketball teams as they compete at Fayetteville Academy.   We close with the Final Pour and Thursday’s Thought of the Week, asking a challenging question for believers and leaders alike: Why is it so hard to listen to understand rather than to hear what we want? Through a New Covenant lens, we consider how humility, shaped by Christ and formed by the Spirit, transforms not only how we speak, but how we truly listen.
