The Bulldog Update - Staying on Top of All Things BBA
by Jack Farmer
Coffee with the Superintendent is a daily, narrative-driven podcast that blends biblical exposition, Christian school leadership, and community formation into a single, accessible conversation. Hosted by a Christian school superintendent, the podcast is designed to be thoughtful without being academic, pastoral without being abstract, and practical without losing theological depth. Each episode is structured around the metaphor of sharing a cup of coffee, moving through three distinct but connected segments. The first segment, often called the First Pour, serves as the devotional heart of the episode. Scripture is read carefully and explained through a New Covenant theological lens, with particular attention given to how Christ fulfills the Old Covenant and how believers now live from the reality of being “in Christ.” The tone is reflective and personal, inviting listeners to slow down, listen well, and consider how the gospel shapes daily life, leadership, and obedience. The second se

Teaching for Transformation and Living as a Different People
In this episode of The Bulldog Update, Dr. Jack Farmer returns after a brief health absence to explore 1 Peter 3:8–12 and the call for believers to live differently in a divided world. Through a New Covenant perspective, this episode examines how Christ transforms His people into a community marked by humility, compassion, truthfulness, and peace rather than retaliation and division. The episode also celebrates recent student and alumni birthdays, recognizes the upcoming Sports Awards Ceremony, and highlights the importance of honoring excellence both on and off the field. In the Moment of Connection, Dr. Farmer explains what “Teaching for Transformation” truly means at Berean Baptist Academy. Far from lowering academic expectations, TfT pushes students and teachers toward deeper thinking by intentionally connecting rigorous academics with spiritual formation and biblical worldview development. Using a current 10th grade worldview and character analysis project as an example, the episode demonstrates how BBA integrates faith, identity, purpose, and critical thinking into meaningful academic experiences designed to help students glorify God through every area of life.

Teach for Transformation and Christlike Leadership
In this episode of The Bulldog Update, Dr. Jack Farmer walks through 1 Peter 3:7 and explores what biblical leadership looks like inside the home. From a New Covenant perspective, husbands are called to lead with understanding, honor, humility, and sacrificial care, reflecting the way Christ loves His church. This episode examines how spiritual maturity is deeply connected to the way we treat others, especially within marriage. The episode also celebrates members of the BBA family with weekend and Monday birthdays, shares today’s lunch menu, and highlights the joy of community life at Berean Baptist Academy. In the Moment of Connection, Dr. Farmer explains what “Teach for Transformation” means the BBA way. More than a teaching model, it is a Christ-centered philosophy of education focused on shaping disciples of Christ who pursue academic excellence through active learning, biblical worldview development, critical thinking, and spiritual formation. Listeners will hear how BBA is redesigning classrooms and learning experiences to move students beyond passive information intake toward meaningful Kingdom-focused application in every area of life. Fearless Faith and Lasting Impact
In this episode of the Bulldog Morning Update, Dr. Jack Farmer walks us through 1 Peter 3:5–6 and the powerful example of Sarah, reminding us that true strength is rooted in a quiet, fearless trust in God. Building on the context of Christlike submission and inward transformation, this reflection challenges us to live with a faith that does not bend under pressure but responds with goodness and confidence in the Lord. We also take time to celebrate members of the Berean family, recognize birthdays, and enjoy a simple moment of fellowship with pizza for lunch. As Teacher Appreciation Week comes to a close, we highlight the fifth and final reason teachers deserve our gratitude: their influence multiplies across generations. Drawing from the model of discipleship in Matthew 28:19–20, this episode emphasizes that what teachers invest today extends far beyond the classroom into families, communities, and the Kingdom of God. It is a reminder that faithful, Christ-centered living leaves a legacy that continues long after the moment has passed.

The Beauty That Lasts and the Teachers Who Carry More
In this episode of the Bulldog Morning Update, Dr. Jack Farmer walks through 1 Peter 3:3–4 and challenges us to shift our focus from outward appearance to the lasting beauty of a Christ-shaped heart. Rooted in a New Covenant understanding, this reflection reminds us that while outward things fade, the character formed by the Spirit is imperishable and of great worth in God’s sight. We also celebrate birthdays, gather for Convocation, and look ahead to opening night of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, while pausing to recognize the steady rhythm of school life. As Teacher Appreciation Week continues, today’s focus highlights a deeper truth. Teachers do far more than instruct. They carry burdens, provide stability, and often serve as a consistent voice of truth and care in the lives of students. Drawing from Galatians 5:13 and 6:2, this episode connects their daily work to the love of Christ lived out in action. This is a reminder that what lasts is not what is seen on the surface, but what is formed in the heart and lived out through faithful service.

Called to Follow: Christ’s Example and the Hidden Weight of Teaching
In this episode of the Bulldog Morning Update, Dr. Jack Farmer walks through a powerful passage from 1 Peter 2:21–25, reminding us that following Christ includes both suffering and transformation. Jesus did not merely save us from sin, He showed us how to live through it. When wronged, He did not retaliate but entrusted Himself to the Father, and we are called to walk in those same steps. As the school community celebrates birthdays, enjoys nachos for lunch, and looks forward to this week’s production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, attention is also given to Teacher Appreciation Week. This episode highlights a deeper truth about what makes Berean Baptist Academy what it is. Teachers carry a weight that is rarely seen. They shape minds, shepherd hearts, and stand accountable for both truth and influence. Drawing from James 3:1, this episode explores the spiritual and practical responsibility teachers bear each day, and why honoring them matters. This is a call to recognize, appreciate, and support those who faithfully serve in the classroom, living out their calling with quiet strength and Christlike purpose.

Following His Steps: The Quiet Power of Christlike Endurance and Teacher Impact
In this episode of the Bulldog Morning Update, Dr. Jack Farmer walks through 1 Peter 2:21–23 and brings it down to where we live every day. Christ did not just suffer for us. He showed us how to suffer, how to respond, and how to trust God when we are treated unfairly. This is not theoretical. It is a calling. When insulted, He did not retaliate. When wronged, He entrusted Himself to the Father. That same posture is what we are called to live out. From there, we celebrate the life of our school community through birthdays, events, athletics, and the arts, recognizing that God is at work in each moment. Finally, in recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week, we begin a five-part focus on what makes BBA truly special. Today highlights the first reason: teachers are not simply delivering information. They are shaping lives. Through daily investment in character, discipline, and truth, they participate in the deeper work of formation that often bears fruit long after students leave the classroom.

Enduring Well and Living on Purpose
In this episode of The Bulldog Update, Dr. Jack Farmer walks through 1 Peter 2:18–20 and brings the conversation into one of the hardest realities of the Christian life, enduring unjust treatment. Rooted in a New Covenant understanding, this reflection challenges listeners to move beyond external obedience and into a daily awareness of God that shapes how we respond when life is not fair. The focus is clear. When we do what is right and still suffer, our response becomes a powerful witness to the world and reflects the example of Christ. The episode also celebrates members of the Berean family, recognizing faculty member and alumna Bianca Farmer and alumnus Robert Daniels, while sharing a simple moment of community connection through the daily lunch menu. Finally, Dr. Farmer explains what truly defines Berean Baptist Academy through the lens of Teaching for Transformation. This is more than a strategy. It is a commitment to forming students who see every subject through the truth of Christ and live out the core values of love, unity, Christlikeness, and a God-glorifying life. The vision is not only academic success, but transformed lives prepared to live with purpose and conviction.

Free Yet Faithful: Living Under Authority with a Renewed Mind
In this episode of the Bulldog Morning Update, we step into 1 Peter 2:13–17 and wrestle with a tension every believer feels but does not always understand. What does it mean to be free in Christ and still live in submission to authority? From a New Covenant perspective, we see that our identity is no longer tied to a nation or system, but to Christ Himself. That changes how we live, how we respond, and how we represent Him in the world. This is not about passive obedience or blind compliance. It is about a transformed life that reflects Christ through humility, honor, and self-control. Peter reminds us that our conduct is our witness. When we live rightly, we silence the noise of a watching world not through argument, but through consistent, Christlike action. We also take time to celebrate our school community with birthdays, a great lunch, and an exciting reminder about our upcoming production of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Finally, in our Moment of Connection, we define what it truly means to think critically. This is not just an academic skill. It is a spiritual discipline. With minds renewed in Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit, we learn to test what we hear, discern truth, and live with clarity in a world full of competing voices.

Living as Witnesses: Identity, Conduct, and Purpose at BBA
In this episode of The Bulldog Update, Dr. Jack Farmer challenges the Berean Baptist Academy community to think deeply about what it truly means to live as followers of Christ in both identity and action. Drawing from 1 Peter 2:11–12, this reflection moves from who we are in Christ to how we are called to live in a world where we do not fully belong. As “strangers and exiles,” students and families are reminded that daily choices are not merely personal decisions but a visible testimony of the gospel to others. The episode highlights that the Christian life is not about external rule-following but about internal transformation through the Spirit, resulting in lives marked by honor, integrity, and good works that point others to God. Listeners are encouraged to consider whether their lives are drawing others toward Christ or creating barriers to the gospel. The Moments of Celebration recognize student birthdays, athletic events, and an upcoming student production of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, reinforcing the importance of community engagement. In the Moment of Connection, Dr. Farmer provides clarity on collaboration within BBA’s leadership culture. Grounded in a biblical framework, he explains that while collaboration is essential, it must be purposeful and aligned with clearly defined roles. True unity is not found in broad inclusion in every decision, but in faithful alignment to mission under Christ’s headship.

Called Out of Darkness: Living as God’s People
In this episode of the Bulldog Morning Update, we walk through 1 Peter 2:9–10 and are reminded of a powerful truth: in Christ, our identity has been completely transformed. Building on the reality that Christ is the cornerstone, Peter shifts our focus to who we now are because we believe. We are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, and a holy nation, not by heritage or effort, but by the finished work of Christ. What was once reserved for Israel under the Old Covenant is now fulfilled in a people redeemed by His blood and united through faith. This identity carries purpose. We are called out of darkness into His marvelous light so that we may proclaim His praises with both our words and our lives. What God has done in us is meant to be seen through us. We also take time to celebrate members of our school community, share updates from athletics, and highlight what Berean Baptist Academy is truly about. In our Moment of Connection, we address accountability through a New Covenant lens, reframing it not as harshness, but as evidence of God’s ongoing work in shaping us into the image of Christ. This is who we are. Now we live like it.

The Cornerstone and the Truth That Shapes Us
In this episode of the Bulldog Update, we center our hearts on 1 Peter 2:6–8 and the unshakable reality of Christ as the cornerstone. What was once foreshadowed in the Old Covenant is now fully revealed in Jesus. He is the foundation by which all things are measured. For those who believe, He is security, honor, and identity. For those who reject Him, He becomes a stone of stumbling. This is not merely theological. It is deeply personal. Every life is being built on something, and Peter makes it clear that only Christ will hold. We also celebrate members of our BBA family, including alumni Samantha Clark and students Primrose and Jett, and we look forward to a strong day of fellowship, learning, and competition on campus. In our Moment of Connection, we address the nature of truth. In a culture that softens and reshapes truth for comfort, we return to the unchanging reality that truth is grounded in the character of God and revealed in Christ. While absolute truth may feel sharp, it is not unloving. It is redemptive. This episode challenges us to align our lives with Christ, the cornerstone, and to stand firmly on truth that transforms.

Built on the Living Stone: Identity, Access, and Humility in Christ
In this episode of the Bulldog Update, we begin with 1 Peter 2:4–5 and a clear reminder of who we are in Christ. Peter moves us from spiritual growth into spiritual identity. Christ is the living stone, rejected by men but chosen by God, and now we, as believers, are being built into a spiritual house. Under the New Covenant, access to God is no longer through a physical temple or priestly system. Through Christ, we are the temple and the priesthood, called to offer our lives as spiritual sacrifices in obedience, worship, and daily faithfulness. From there, we celebrate our Bulldog family with birthdays, a look at today’s lunch, and updates on our athletic events as our students represent Berean both at home and on the road. We close with a focused Moment of Connection on humility. Looking to Christ, we see that humility is not weakness or self-denial of worth. It is strength under submission. Jesus fully understood His identity, received what was rightfully His, and yet submitted completely to the Father’s will. He served, loved, and when necessary, spoke truth with clarity and conviction. In Him, we see that humility is not lowering ourselves falsely, but aligning ourselves rightly under God.

Craving the Word, Living in Covenant
In this episode of the Bulldog Update, Dr. Jack Farmer walks through 1 Peter 2:2–3 and challenges us to examine what we truly hunger for. As believers who have been made new in Christ, we are called not only to remove sin, but to actively pursue the nourishment that leads to growth. Through a New Covenant lens, this devotion highlights how the Word of God is no longer external instruction alone, but the living means by which the Holy Spirit transforms us from within. If we have truly tasted that the Lord is good, our lives will reflect a growing desire for Him. The episode also celebrates members of the BBA family, recognizing birthdays and sharing updates from campus life, including athletics and fellowship. In the Moment of Connection, Dr. Farmer unpacks the meaning of “Covenant Community,” clarifying the commitment BBA families and staff make to walk together through both challenges and victories. Rooted in our identity as the body of Christ, this segment emphasizes unity, reconciliation, and shared responsibility in building a Christ-honoring culture that endures.

Living What God Made New
In this episode of The Bulldog Update, Dr. Jack Farmer brings us into 1 Peter 2:1 and the practical reality of living out the new life we have been given in Christ. Flowing from the truth that we have been born again through the enduring Word of God, this moment of reflection challenges us to take ownership of our daily walk. Malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander are not small issues. They are relational sins that contradict the sincere love we are called to live out as believers. Under the New Covenant, this is no longer about external compliance, but internal transformation as the Holy Spirit shapes our hearts. The call is clear. Examine your life, remove what does not reflect Christ, and walk in the truth of who you already are in Him. We also take time to celebrate the Berean family, recognizing birthdays from April 16 through April 20, including alumni, students, and faculty who continue to be a vital part of the academy’s story. Listeners will hear updates on lunch, featuring BBQ chicken, and athletic events including Golf at Cypress Lakes, Middle School Soccer at Fayetteville Christian, and Baseball at home versus Fayetteville Christian. In our Moment of Connection, we highlight the vital role of the Director of Operations. This position ensures that every system within the school supports the mission of discipleship and academic excellence. It is a reminder that what happens behind the scenes is just as critical as what happens in the classroom, and through faithful stewardship, the mission of Berean Baptist Academy continues to move forward with purpose and clarity.

Born Again to Love: Living the Mission Through Truth and Teaching
In this episode of the Bulldog Morning Update, Dr. Jack Farmer walks through 1 Peter 1:22–23 and brings the focus from theological truth to daily Christian living. Because we have been purified through obedience to the truth and born again through the enduring Word of God, our lives should be marked by sincere, constant love for one another. This is not external religion, but internal transformation that produces visible evidence in how we treat others. The episode also celebrates BBA students Samantha, Elijah, Isabel, and Delilah on their birthdays, along with a lighter moment featuring pizza for lunch and a day of rest from athletics. In the Moment of Connection, the focus turns to what truly makes BBA what it is. The role of the teacher is elevated as the primary driver of both discipleship and academic excellence. Teachers are called to be proactive in building partnerships, intentional in mentoring, and clear in communication. At BBA, the classroom is not simply a place of instruction, but a place of formation. When teachers are aligned with the mission, the entire school reflects Christ more faithfully in both word and practice.

Anchored in Christ, Strengthened in Leadership
In this episode of The Bulldog Update, Dr. Jack Farmer walks us through a powerful reminder from 1 Peter 1:21 that our faith and hope are not rooted in performance, systems, or even religious practice, but fully in the resurrected and glorified Christ. Building on the foundation that God’s redemptive plan was established before the world began, this moment of reflection brings the truth into personal focus. Because of Christ, we now have direct access to God, and because of the resurrection, we can live with confidence that our salvation is complete and secure. The call is clear: stop striving and start living from what Christ has already accomplished. The episode also includes moments of celebration, recognizing alumni and student birthdays, along with updates from campus life and athletics. In the Moment of Connection, Dr. Farmer explains what truly makes Berean Baptist Academy distinct by examining the structure that supports its mission. Focusing on the role of the Assistant Principal, he highlights how this position provides daily leadership, supports teachers in real time, and ensures that discipline and culture are handled in a redemptive, Christ-centered manner. Foreknown and Revealed: Living in God’s Eternal Plan
In this episode, we begin with a powerful reminder from 1 Peter 1:20 that our salvation in Christ was not an afterthought, but part of God’s eternal plan before the foundation of the world. What was once foreshadowed through the Old Covenant sacrificial system has now been fully revealed in Jesus Christ, the perfect and final Lamb. This truth grounds our faith in certainty and calls us to live with confidence, reverence, and gratitude, knowing that our lives are held within God’s sovereign purpose. As we return from Resurrection Weekend, we celebrate the lives within our community through a series of birthdays and shared moments that remind us of the joy of doing life together. We also look ahead to today’s activities, including lunch and athletic events, as part of our daily rhythm as a school family. Finally, in our Moment of Connection, we focus on what makes Berean Baptist Academy truly distinct by examining the role of the principal. This position serves as the bridge between vision and daily practice, ensuring that the mission of developing disciples of Christ is lived out in every classroom. Through alignment with the Superintendent and a commitment to developing teachers, principals play a vital role in shaping both the academic excellence and spiritual formation of our students.

Redeemed by the Blood: Living as Strangers with Purpose
In this episode of the Bulldog Morning Update, we begin with a powerful reflection on First Epistle of Peter 1:17–19, where Peter calls believers to live with reverence, not מתוך fear, but from a deep understanding of what it cost to redeem us. This passage reminds us that while we now approach God as Father through Christ, our lives still matter as evidence of transformed hearts. We were not purchased with temporary things, but with the precious blood of Jesus Christ, the fulfillment of the spotless Passover Lamb. Because of that, we are called to live differently, as strangers in this world who belong fully to Him. We then celebrate members of our BBA family, including alumni Damion Aarons II, students Kanye, Gayeon, and Seth, and faculty member Mr. Jerome Keels. The day continues with Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry for lunch and exciting athletic matchups as Varsity Soccer and Baseball compete. In our Moment of Connection, we take a clear look at the role of the Superintendent. As the sole employee of the Board, this role carries the responsibility of leading every aspect of the academy, from academics to operations, while remaining aligned to the mission of developing disciples of Christ who pursue academic excellence. This is leadership rooted in stewardship, accountability, and faithfulness to God’s calling.

Called to Be Holy: Living Out Who We Are in Christ
In this episode of the Bulldog Update, we move from hope to action as we examine 1 Peter 1:15–16 and the call to holiness. Peter reminds us that holiness is not an external performance rooted in Old Covenant law, but an internal transformation made possible through the finished work of Christ. Because we have been called by a holy God, our lives are now shaped by His character in every area of conduct. This episode challenges us to stop striving to appear right and instead live out who we already are in Christ, allowing His work within us to be seen clearly in our daily decisions, relationships, and attitudes. We also take time to celebrate members of our BBA community, recognize today’s events, and encourage support for our Varsity Softball team as they compete at home. Finally, in our Moment of Connection, we begin to answer the question, “What makes BBA, BBA?” by looking at the intentional structure of leadership through the Board of Governors. Rooted in the local church, this structure ensures that our mission remains clear, our leadership is accountable, and our school continues to operate from a strong biblical foundation.

Shaped by Holiness, Sent to Lead
In this episode of the Bulldog Morning Update, we move from what we believe to how we live. Rooted in 1 Peter 1:14–16, we are reminded that under the New Covenant we are no longer striving to earn God’s favor, but living as children who have already received it through Christ. Because of that identity, we are called to something higher. We are called to holiness. Not an external, rule-driven holiness of the Old Covenant, but a transformed life that reflects the character of God from the inside out. As we celebrate birthdays, enjoy fellowship over lunch, and support our student-athletes, we are reminded that everyday moments are opportunities to live out that calling. We also conclude our focus on the Expected Stakeholder Outcomes by examining what it means to use knowledge to serve and lead. At BBA, learning is not the destination. It is preparation for impact. When knowledge is surrendered to Christ, it produces humility, service, and wise leadership that points others to Him. This episode is a clear reminder that who we are in Christ should shape how we live, how we learn, and how we lead.

Set Your Hope Fully: Living with Excellence, Clarity, and Purpose in Christ
In this episode of the Bulldog Morning Update, we step into 1 Peter 1:13 and are reminded that because of what Christ has accomplished, we are called to think and live differently. Peter’s challenge is clear. Prepare your mind. Stay alert. Fix your hope completely on the grace that is coming in Jesus. This is not passive faith. It is an intentional, disciplined life shaped by the finished work of Christ and the promise of His return. We then celebrate the lives that make up our Berean community, recognizing birthdays across alumni, students, and staff, and marking the start of IOWA testing. Students are encouraged to approach the day with diligence and integrity, remembering that their identity is rooted in Christ rather than performance. Finally, we focus on one of our Expected Stakeholder Outcomes: working with excellence and integrity. At BBA, this is more than academic effort. It is worship. Because Christ has fulfilled the law and given us new hearts, we now pursue excellence as a response to grace, not a means of earning it. This is how we build a culture that honors God in every task, every classroom, and every moment.

Living in What the Prophets Longed to See
In today’s Bulldog Update, we step into 1 Peter 1:10–12 and uncover the weight of the salvation we often take for granted. The prophets searched for it, the Spirit revealed it, and now in Christ, we are living in its fulfillment. What they only glimpsed, we now clearly know through the gospel. This moment of reflection challenges us to respond with gratitude, endurance, and a renewed commitment to proclaim Christ. We also take time to celebrate members of our Berean family, recognizing birthdays for both alumni and current students, sharing today’s lunch menu, and highlighting a full schedule of athletic events as our students compete with excellence and character. Finally, in our Moment of Connection, we focus on a critical Expected Stakeholder Outcome: thinking critically and biblically. Rooted in Romans 12:2, we are reminded that true transformation comes through the renewal of the mind. At BBA, this means forming students who are not shaped by culture, but grounded in truth, equipped to discern God’s will, and prepared to live with clarity and conviction in every area of life.

Refined Faith and Diligent Minds: Trusting God Through Trials and Pursuing Wisdom in Christ
In this episode of the Bulldog Update, we step into the tension of the Christian life found in 1 Peter 1:6–7. We are reminded that while believers rejoice in a living hope secured in Christ, we also walk through seasons of real difficulty. These trials are not случай or meaningless. They are purposeful, refining our faith like gold in fire, producing something far more valuable that will result in praise, glory, and honor when Christ is revealed. As we celebrate members of our Berean family, we take time to recognize alumni birthdays, enjoy a lunch of burritos, and support our student-athletes competing across multiple events. These moments remind us that community matters and that every part of school life is an opportunity to reflect Christ. In our Moment of Connection, we examine the sixth Expected Stakeholder Outcome: pursuing knowledge with diligence. Rooted in Proverbs 4:7 and fulfilled in Christ as our wisdom, we are challenged to see learning not as a task, but as an act of worship. At Berean, academic excellence is not separate from discipleship. It is a reflection of it.

Guarded by God, Living on Mission
In this episode of the Bulldog Update, we begin with a powerful reminder from 1 Peter 1:5 that our security is not found in our performance, but in the guarding power of God through faith. As we continue in the flow of Peter’s opening words, we are challenged to rest in the finished work of Christ, knowing that the same power that saved us is the power that keeps us. We then take time to celebrate our Berean family, recognizing birthdays from over Spring Break and looking ahead to today’s celebrations. A Living Hope and a Bold Mission
In this episode of the Bulldog Update, Dr. Jack Farmer reflects on 1 Peter 1:3–4, reminding the Berean Baptist Academy community that believers have been given new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Peter points us away from temporary things and toward the eternal inheritance that Christ has secured for His people. While the Old Covenant promises once centered on the land of Canaan, the New Covenant reveals something greater: an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for those who belong to Christ. This living hope steadies our hearts and shapes the way we live each day. The episode also celebrates members of the Bulldog family with birthday recognitions and marks the conclusion of the third quarter with today’s half-day dismissal. Dr. Farmer invites the school community to pray for wisdom and discernment as the hiring committee interviews candidates and considers its recommendation for the Elementary School Assistant Principal position. Finally, the Moment of Connection highlights Berean Baptist Academy’s fourth Expected Stakeholder Outcome: Share the Gospel Boldly. Rooted in the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18–20, this segment reminds listeners that Christian education is not only about knowledge but about forming disciples who carry the message of Christ into every calling and every community where God leads them.

Chosen Exiles: Living Faithfully in a Scattered World
In this episode of The Bulldog Update, Dr. Jack Farmer reflects on the opening words of 1 Peter 1:1–2, where believers are described as chosen by God yet living as exiles in the world. Peter reminds the early church that their identity is not rooted in geography, culture, or status, but in the saving work of the Father, the sanctifying work of the Spirit, and the redeeming blood of Jesus Christ. Just as the covenant people of God once had blood sprinkled upon them in the days of Moses, believers today stand under the once-for-all sacrifice of Christ that establishes the New Covenant. The episode also celebrates members of the Berean Baptist Academy community, including birthday recognitions, athletic competitions, and an important leadership announcement welcoming Miss Loretta Nally as the incoming Assistant Principal of the High School for the 2026–2027 school year. Finally, in the Moment of Connection, Dr. Farmer continues the series on Berean Baptist Academy’s Expected Stakeholder Outcomes, focusing on the importance of engaging in biblical study and application. Grounded in Psalm 119:105, the conversation highlights why Scripture must be the guiding light for students, shaping not only their knowledge but their character, decisions, and daily walk with Christ. Together, these moments remind the BBA community that faithful education begins with God’s Word and flows into every part of life.

Grace That Reaches Everywhere
In today’s Bulldog Morning Update, Dr. Jack Farmer walks through the closing words of Philippians as Paul reminds believers that their identity is found “in Christ” and that the grace of Jesus sustains the Christian life. From the surprising mention of believers within Caesar’s household to the reminder that the gospel spreads through transformed lives, this reflection shows how the message of Christ reaches even the most unlikely places. The episode also celebrates members of the Berean family, wishing happy birthday to Peyton and Alayna, sharing today’s lunch menu, and cheering on the Varsity Softball team as they travel to face Northwood. In the Moment of Connection, Dr. Farmer continues exploring the Expected Stakeholder Outcomes at Berean Baptist Academy. Today’s focus is living with Christlike character. Drawing from Philippians 2, the discussion highlights why love, humility, integrity, and compassion are essential in a Christian school community. Students do not simply learn information at BBA; they learn how to live in a way that reflects the character of Christ. The update closes with a reminder to pray for wisdom as the Academy interviews candidates for key leadership roles and with a challenge to represent Christ well in every relationship throughout the day.

A Fragrant Offering: Generosity, God’s Provision, and Following Christ Daily
In this episode of the Bulldog Morning Update, Dr. Jack Farmer reflects on Philippians 4:18–20 and the powerful reminder that generosity offered in faith becomes a pleasing sacrifice to God. Drawing from Paul’s words, the episode explores how the language of Old Covenant sacrifices points forward to Christ’s finished work and how believers today offer spiritual sacrifices through obedience, service, and generosity. When God’s people give from a heart that loves Christ, their actions become worship, and they can trust the promise that God faithfully provides for their needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus. The episode also highlights moments of celebration across the Berean Baptist Academy community, including birthday wishes for alumna Alexandra Paschal, a first-grade field trip, athletic pictures on campus, and an exciting day of Bulldog athletics with middle school soccer on the road and varsity baseball opening its home season against Freedom Christian. The Moment of Connection begins a new series exploring Berean Baptist Academy’s Expected Stakeholder Outcomes. Today’s focus is the foundational expectation that every stakeholder—parents, students, employees, board members, and alumni—commit to loving and following Christ daily. Rooted in Luke 9:23, this episode emphasizes that Christian education is not only about teaching truth but about living it so that students see authentic faith modeled before them.

Generosity, Community, and Covenant Faithfulness
In this episode of The Bulldog Update, we pause together as a school community to reflect, celebrate, and stay connected to the mission of Berean Baptist Academy. In the Moment of Reflection, we look at Philippians 4:15–17, where Paul reminds the Philippian believers that their generosity toward the ministry of the gospel was more than a financial gift. It was a spiritual partnership that produced eternal fruit. Their willingness to support the work of Christ demonstrated that gospel-centered generosity is not about the gift itself but about the spiritual growth and kingdom impact that flows from faithful obedience. In the Moment of Celebration, we recognize several birthdays across our Berean community, including alumni, current students, and faculty members. We also share a few updates from around campus, including our senior class enjoying their extended Spring Break, today’s lunch menu of Chicken Filet Sandwiches, and athletic events with our golf team competing at Village at Gates Four and our Middle School Soccer team hosting Fayetteville Academy. In the Moment of Connection, we continue Part 10 of our series examining the Parental Covenant. This segment explores why continued enrollment at Berean Baptist Academy requires alignment with the mission and commitments of the school, and why protecting the unity and spiritual health of the academy community is essential to maintaining a faithful gospel ministry. Thank you for staying connected with the life and mission of Berean Baptist Academy.

Christ Our Sufficiency in Every Season
In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we continue walking through Philippians 4 and examine Paul’s powerful testimony of contentment in Philippians 4:10–14. From prison, Paul declares that he has learned to be content in both abundance and need, revealing that true strength is not self-sufficiency but Christ-sufficiency. We explore what it means that “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” in its proper context and how this New Covenant reality reshapes our understanding of provision, endurance, and partnership in hardship. Along the way, we reflect on birthdays within our school community and close with a reminder that our citizenship and witness reflect the Lord we serve. This episode calls us to steady hearts, faithful endurance, and visible Christlike character in every season.

The Battleground of the Mind and the Presence of Peace
In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we walk carefully through Philippians 4:8–9 and examine what it truly means to have a guarded mind in Christ. Flowing directly from Paul’s call to reject anxiety, pursue unity, rejoice always, and stand firm in the Lord, this passage shifts the focus to the inner life. The battleground is the mind. Under the Old Covenant, the law was written on stone. Under the New Covenant, God writes His law upon the heart. Paul calls believers to think intentionally on what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and worthy of praise, not as moral self-improvement, but as Spirit-formed obedience flowing from union with Christ. We explore how disciplined thinking is not legalism but transformation, how practiced truth brings relational peace with the God of peace, and how imitation of godly example embodies the gospel. In the Second Pour, we celebrate our Berean family across generations. In the Final Pour, we examine Shared Accountability and Correction in our Parental Covenant, grounding loving discipline in New Covenant theology and redemptive formation. This episode calls us to take responsibility for our thought life, to practice what we profess, and to pursue Christ-centered peace in a restless world.

Standing Firm in Peace: A Gospel Framework for Unity and Joy
In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we step into Philippians 4:1–7 and examine what heavenly citizenship looks like in daily life. Flowing from Paul’s reminder that our citizenship is in heaven, he now calls believers to stand firm in the Lord, pursue unity, rejoice always, practice gentleness, and replace anxiety with prayer. We explore how these commands are not rooted in Old Covenant law-keeping, but in New Covenant union with Christ. From resolving conflict to guarding our hearts with the peace of God, this passage provides a deeply practical framework for life in a Christian community. For a school like Berean Baptist Academy, these truths shape how we lead, learn, and live together under the lordship of Christ.

Citizens of Heaven: The Cross, Character, and Our Coming King
In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we walk carefully through Philippians 3:18–21 and confront the sobering contrast Paul presents: two trajectories, two identities, two outcomes. With pastoral tears, Paul warns of those who live as enemies of the cross, driven by appetite and earthly focus. Yet he lifts our eyes to a greater reality. Our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior who will transform us by His resurrection power. From that theological foundation, we turn to life inside Berean Baptist Academy. We celebrate birthdays, share lunch announcements, and speak plainly about enrollment urgency as seats continue to fill and placement testing begins. In the Final Pour, we examine Part Six of our new Parental Covenant: Integrity, Honesty, and Appropriate Use of Resources. We explore why academic honesty is not merely policy compliance but a New Covenant issue of heart transformation. Character formation, not short-term performance, is the true aim of Christian education. This episode calls families to clarity, courage, and consistency as citizens of heaven raising children for eternity.

Maturity Has a Direction
In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we return to Philippians 3:15–17 and examine what true Christian maturity looks like under the New Covenant. Paul reminds us that maturity is not sinless perfection but a mind shaped by the gospel, pressing toward Christ because Christ has already taken hold of us. We explore the difference between Old Covenant external conformity and New Covenant heart transformation, and we consider what it means to live up to the truth we have already received. We also continue our examination of the New Parent Covenant, focusing on Academic Responsibility and Work Ethic. We reflect on how diligence, integrity, punctuality, and perseverance are not merely academic virtues but acts of stewardship and worship. At Berean Baptist Academy, excellence is not about pride or performance. It is about gratitude, discipleship, and forming students who live consistently with their identity in Christ.

Pressing on Toward the Prize
In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we slow down and reflect on Philippians 3:13–14 and Paul’s powerful confession that he has not yet arrived, but he is pressing forward. In The First Pour, we explore what it means to forget what lies behind and strain toward what lies ahead in Christ. Through a New Covenant lens, we consider how righteousness is secured in Christ, yet sanctification remains an active pursuit. The Old Covenant exposed sin but could not transform the heart. In the New Covenant, the Spirit empowers us to pursue holiness with forward focus and joyful endurance. In The Second Pour, we celebrate our alumni and current student birthdays, recognize our Elementary Spelling Bee participants, and look forward to a simple favorite at lunch. In The Final Pour, we examine the Parental Covenant section on modeling Christlike character and authority. We reflect on why unity, respect, and Spirit-shaped humility between home and school are essential for spiritual formation and academic excellence at Berean Baptist Academy.

Taken Hold Of: Pressing on Under the New Covenant
In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we anchor ourselves in Philippians 3:12 and the powerful tension of the New Covenant life. The Apostle Paul reminds us that he has not already reached the goal, yet he presses forward because he has been taken hold of by Christ Jesus. This is not striving for acceptance but striving from acceptance. In The First Pour, we explore the difference between Old Covenant performance and New Covenant union with Christ. We examine the already and the not yet reality of sanctification and what it means to pursue holiness because Christ has already secured our righteousness. In The Second Pour, we celebrate birthdays, honor our School Resource Officer and his team, enjoy pizza day, and remind families that Open House launches open enrollment. Seats are now secured on a first come basis, so it is time to act with clarity and commitment. In The Final Pour, we continue Part Four of our Parental Covenant series, focusing on Spiritual Partnership and Discipleship. We examine why alignment between home and academy is not merely procedural but theological. Under the New Covenant, transformation flows from the finished work of Christ and the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit. A Christian school cannot disciple effectively without unified conviction around the gospel. This episode calls us to press on personally, celebrate faithfully, and stand together spiritually.

Loss, Righteousness, and Resurrection Power
In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we walk carefully through Philippians 3:8–11 and confront one of the most searching questions in the Christian life: What are we still counting as gain? Paul lays down his religious résumé, calls it loss, and fixes his eyes on something infinitely greater, knowing Christ. We explore what it means to be found in Him, to receive a righteousness not earned but given, and to live in the present power of His resurrection while sharing in His sufferings. In the Second Pour, we celebrate alumni Jordan Hargis, students Kendall, Austin, and Terrence, and honor our Chairman of the Board and Associate Pastor, Dr. Mike Boarts. We also look ahead to spring athletics and the discipline that builds excellence long before game day. In the Final Pour, we continue Part Three of our Parent Covenant series, examining what it truly means to align with the mission of Kingdom Education. From a New Covenant perspective, we consider why Scripture as absolute truth, Christ as central, and spiritual maturity as non-negotiable are not institutional preferences but theological necessities.

Watch Out and Boast in Christ
In today’s episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we open Philippians 3 with a sharp warning that protects the joy Paul just commanded. He tells believers to watch out for those who would turn faith into a flesh-based scoreboard, measuring standing with God by external markers and religious credentials (Phil 3:1–2). From there, Paul draws a clear New Covenant line: the true people of God are not defined by marks in the body but by worship empowered by the Spirit, a confidence rooted in Christ, and a refusal to trust in human status (Phil 3:3). Paul then places his own résumé on the table to prove the point. If anyone could claim “confidence in the flesh,” it was him: heritage, law-keeping, zeal, and outward blamelessness (Phil 3:4–6). Yet he calls it all loss compared to Christ (Phil 3:7). This is the heart of New Covenant living: identity is no longer built on what we have achieved, inherited, or displayed, but on what Christ has fulfilled and secured. You will be challenged to examine what you are tempted to boast in, and to re-center your confidence where it belongs. In the Second Pour, we celebrate alumni birthdays for Daronte McKethan and Brandon Young, enjoy pasta with meat sauce for lunch, and encourage our families to be strengthened in mid-week Bible studies at Berean Baptist Church.

Guarded by Joy: Confidence in Christ Alone
In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we step into the sharp warning of Philippians 3:2 and discover why Paul places vigilance immediately after joy. “Watch out,” he says three times, reminding us that spiritual maturity requires both celebration and discernment. We explore how Old Covenant signs such as circumcision find their fulfillment in Christ and why confidence in the flesh remains a subtle temptation for modern believers. The Second Pour celebrates a full slate of birthdays across our Berean family and highlights playoff action and campus life. In the Final Pour, we begin unpacking the Parental Covenant of Partnership and Alignment, clarifying why enrollment at Berean Baptist Academy is not transactional but covenantal, rooted in shared responsibility under the lordship of Christ.

Rejoice as a Safeguard
In today’s Coffee with the Superintendent, we step into Philippians 3:1 and hear Paul give a command that is far sturdier than it sounds: “Rejoice in the Lord.” This is not emotional hype. It is New Covenant stability. Paul ties joy to Christ Himself, not to outcomes, circumstances, or personal performance. We explore how Old Covenant patterns often trained people to read blessing and hardship as a spiritual scorecard, and how the finished work of Christ frees the believer to rejoice even when life hurts. Paul also explains why he repeats this message: joy is a safeguard. It protects the heart from drifting back into self-reliance, comparison, and religious confidence in the flesh. As the day unfolds, we celebrate an alumni birthday, share the lunch menu, and send our basketball teams out with support. We close with Philosophical Friday, testing Nietzsche’s famous quote against the New Covenant and centering the believer’s “why” in Christ.

Faithfulness That Costs: Honoring Quiet Sacrifice in the Work of Christ
In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we linger over Philippians 2:25–30 and the often-overlooked faithfulness of Epaphroditus. Paul does not present an abstract theology lesson. He tells a true story of embodied love, costly service, and mercy given by God rather than earned by effort. Through the lens of New Covenant Theology, this passage reframes honor, leadership, and sacrifice, not as positions or titles, but as lives quietly given for the sake of Christ and His people. The First Pour explores how identity under the New Covenant is no longer rooted in law, lineage, or status, but in shared life in Christ. Epaphroditus stands as a brother, coworker, and fellow soldier whose faithfulness nearly cost him his life. His story calls believers to honor those who serve without applause and to recognize that the work of Christ continues through self-giving love shaped by grace. The Second Pour brings our school community together with celebrations, announcements, and prayer for our students and teams. The Final Pour reflects on leadership, faithfulness, and endurance, particularly in seasons that demand responsibility without recognition. This episode reminds us that under the New Covenant, faithfulness is not measured by visibility or scale, but by perseverance, humility, and a willingness to suffer well for the glory of God.

Proven Character and an Unshakable Kingdom
In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we slow down and consider what New Covenant faithfulness looks like when it moves beyond words and takes shape in real relationships, real decisions, and real allegiance. In the First Pour, Philippians 2:19–24 opens a window into the heart of Paul and the proven character of Timothy. Rather than law keeping or spiritual performance, we see transformed loyalty, sincere concern for others, and lives ordered around the interests of Jesus Christ. This passage reminds us that New Covenant maturity is revealed not through position or visibility, but through faithful service shaped by Christ Himself. In the Second Pour, we pause to celebrate the people who make our school community meaningful. Spanning several days due to an unexpected interruption, we honor alumni, current students, and a devoted teacher, while also marking the 100th day of school. These ordinary milestones serve as quiet testimonies to God’s ongoing faithfulness in the steady work of teaching, learning, and growing together. The Final Pour lifts our eyes from daily faithfulness to eternal authority. By connecting Daniel 7:13–14 with Jesus’ words in Matthew 26:63–65, we see how the promised Son of Man receives everlasting dominion through humility, suffering, and exaltation. The One judged by human courts is revealed as the reigning King whose kingdom cannot be shaken. Together, these passages call us to live with proven character under the present reign of Christ, faithfully aligned with a kingdom that will never pass away.

Poured Out With Joy: When Faith Becomes Worship
In today’s episode, we listen closely to Paul’s quiet but powerful words in Philippians 2:17–18, where sacrifice, suffering, and joy are redefined through the finished work of Christ. Paul presents his own life as a drink offering, not as a payment to God, but as a response to what Christ has already accomplished. This First Pour explores how New Covenant believers are called to live poured-out lives marked by joyful obedience rather than self-preservation. The Second Pour celebrates birthdays, lunch, and Middle School basketball, reminding us that joy is woven into ordinary community life. The Final Pour grounds Academic Excellence in the formation of a biblical worldview, challenging us to see all truth through the lens of God’s Word in a world that increasingly forgets its Creator.

Shining Without Complaining: Holding Fast to the Word of Life
In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we return to Philippians 2:14–16 and explore what New Covenant faithfulness looks like in the ordinary pressures of daily life. Paul calls believers to live without grumbling or arguing, not as a matter of behavior control, but as a response to God’s transforming work within us. We examine how this passage echoes Israel’s Old Covenant struggle, how Christ fulfills what the law could not produce, and why quiet faithfulness shines brightest in a broken world. As always, we close with practical reflection, community updates, and a Word of the Week that challenges us to consider responsibility not as burden, but as grace-filled stewardship in Christ.

Worked From Within: Living Out What God Is Working In
In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we turn our attention to Philippians 2:12–13 and explore one of the most misunderstood yet deeply comforting truths of the Christian life. Paul’s call to “work out your salvation with fear and trembling” is not a demand for self-generated holiness, but an invitation to live out what God Himself is already accomplishing within His people. Through a New Covenant lens, we will see how obedience flows from transformation, not obligation, and how God supplies both the desire and the strength to walk faithfully. Along the way, we will celebrate our community, highlight upcoming athletics, and anchor our hearts in the covenant promise of the indwelling Holy Spirit, fulfilled in Christ and poured out at Pentecost. This episode reminds us that the Christian life is serious, meaningful, and reverent, yet grounded in grace and sustained by God’s ongoing work.

The Name Above Every Name
In this episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we turn to Philippians 2:9–11, the climactic moment of Paul’s Christ hymn. In the First Pour, we reflect on the exaltation of Jesus, not as a reversal of the cross, but as God’s public vindication of the Son’s obedient love. We explore what it means to confess Jesus as Lord in a world that offers competing loyalties, and how New Covenant allegiance reshapes our identity, hope, and daily obedience. The Second Pour celebrates community, birthdays, and student life, while the Final Pour challenges us to think clearly about truth, allegiance, and citizenship under the lordship of Christ.

Humbled to the Cross: Obedience, Community, and the Discipline of Listening
In today’s episode of Coffee with the Superintendent, we are invited to slow down and look closely at the heart of the New Covenant. In the First Pour, we reflect on Philippians 2:8 and the humility of Christ, who chose obedience even when it led to the cross. We are reminded that our salvation rests not on our performance, but on His finished work, and that true greatness in Christ is found in surrender, not recognition. In the Second Pour, we celebrate the life of our school community with a birthday greeting for Alexandra, enjoy a comforting lunch of BBQ meatballs and mashed potatoes, and cheer on our Middle School basketball teams as they compete at Fayetteville Academy. We close with the Final Pour and Thursday’s Thought of the Week, asking a challenging question for believers and leaders alike: Why is it so hard to listen to understand rather than to hear what we want? Through a New Covenant lens, we consider how humility, shaped by Christ and formed by the Spirit, transforms not only how we speak, but how we truly listen.

ABOUT THIS SHOW
Coffee with the Superintendent is a daily, narrative-driven podcast that blends biblical exposition, Christian school leadership, and community formation into a single, accessible conversation.
