2. Luke 5 records an encounter between the disciples of Jesus and a group of Pharisees – they are at the home of Levi the tax collector where the Pharisees complained bitterly to Jesus’ disciples, “Why do you (mainly aimed at Jesus) eat and drink with such scum?” Not very gracious or what we would expect to come from the mouths of those considered religious leaders. Jesus drew criticism and condemnation often because of who he sat with , ate with and those who seemed drawn to him and his gospel. As we reconsider and are open to be reminded of the things that should matter in the life of our church, we should not miss this example from the one we seek to follow.
