Hunkpapa

<3 This week on Magic Portals we hear from Throwing Muses with their 1989 album Hunkpapa. Produced by Gary Smith and engineered by Steve Haigler, it was recorded at Fort Apache Studios in Cambridge, Massachusetts and mixed at Carriage House Studios in Stamford, Connecticut. Throwing Muses is an alternative rock band formed in 1981 in Newport, Rhode Island, that toured and recorded extensively until 1997, when its members began concentrating more on other projects. The group was originally fronted by two lead singers, Kristin Hersh, and Tanya Donelly, who both wrote the group’s songs. The group was set apart from other contemporary acts by Hersh’s stark, candid writing style; Donelly’s pop stylings and vocal harmonies; and David Narcizo’s unusual drumming techniques eschewing use of cymbals. The music often draws portraits of characters from daily life or addressing relationships and the struggle in a world of systematic order. Hunkpapa is a very important work from Throwing Muses, the album is a pleasure to listen too and deserves to be shared on the airwaves. <3 http://joy.org.au/magicportals/wp-content/uploads/sites/350/2017/11/Episode-44_mixdown.mp3 Ep 44 00:00:59 – Throwing Muses – Devil’s Roof 00:05:38 – Throwing Muses – Bea 00:11:07 – Throwing Muses – Dizzy 00:16:06 – Throwing Muses – No Parachutes 00:20:15 – Throwing Muses – Dragonhead 00:24:09 – Throwing Muses – Say Goodbye 00:24:41 – Throwing Muses – Fall Down 00:28:17 – Throwing Muses – Im Alive 00:31:00 – Throwing Muses – Angel 00:34:18 – Throwing Muses – Mania 00:42:45 – Throwing Muses – The Burrow 00:44:00 – Throwing Muses – Take 00:48:20 – Throwing Muses – Santa Claus 00:52:00 – Throwing Muses – Vicky’s Box 00:57:03 – Throwing Muses – Cry Baby Cry Transitional Audio Clips Hocus Locus (1994) – Various scenes Throwing Muses (1995) – Interview The post Hunkpapa appeared first on Magic Portals.
