It's Monday after the storm, kinda. It's still lingering. I have a lot to be grateful for. And welcome in.
This is The Daily Grateful. My name is Michael Croce. It's Monday and it's been a weird couple of days, man. I'm here to tell you that Hurricane Debbie creature came.
And by the way, Debbie on this storm was spelled the same way my ex-girlfriend, who is now deceased, Debbie spelled her name, D-E-B-B-Y, not I-E, which I thought was fascinating. I wish she would have been around to see this. I think she would have loved it. But in any respects, that was just one hellacious, irritating as hell storm.
But I have so much to be grateful for. Well, one of the things I'm grateful for is I don't have to mow the lawn today because it's still raining and it's still wet. It's been raining on and off all day. The storm went through here yesterday and it's, you know, yesterday was just a lot more wind than I thought, but just tons of rain.
But here is the other thing I have to be grateful for. When was it? This is Monday and Sunday's the storm. Saturday night, Saturday night it started raining.
It started raining really, really hard because the storm is like on its way. We were really getting plummeted. And I look up in the living room ceiling and there's a wet spot. And Zach, my son, had walked past and it dripped on him.
And then the carpeting was wet. And I said, ah, I'm not going to say what I said. But, you know, what are we going to do? You know, what are we going to do?
What are we going to do? So my son, Zach, who's a skinny person compared to me, went up in the attic. I followed him. I couldn't go as far as he did.
He crawled underneath the air conditioner on his back and shimmied his way down with a really good flashlight, 1200 lumens, and shined it up there. And boy, drip, drip, drip, drip, drip. It was coming down there and in another space near the air conditioner. Drip, drip, drip, drip, drip.
And I said, what are we going to do? What are we going to do? What are we going to do? He sprayed it with Flex Steel or Flex Seal.
Flex Seal. He sprayed it. I bought a can of Flex Seal because we'd had a leak before. And the other day he went up on the roof at the very peak of the roof where we thought the leak had been before.
And he sprayed it up there. And, you know, we were hoping it had taken care of it, but obviously not. And he sprayed this, just plummeted and sprayed it. And then he came down, sprayed it, sprayed it, and then came down.
And then the next thing you know, it was a heck of a thing for him to do. I mean, that was just an incredible, you know, contortionist thing for him to do. And then he came down and we noticed the drip had stopped. And we put a great big bowl where it had been dripping and the bowl remained dry.
Like all day Sunday. It rained all day Sunday. And the bowl remained and the wet spot up on the roof dried out. It literally dried out.
So my son Zachary saved the day. You know, Mr. Trouble never comes around when he hears that mighty sound. Here I come to save the day.
That means that Zachary is on the way. So I'm eternally grateful for him for that. Other people were not as lucky as us. While it wasn't a big wind event.
And by the way, it's still going on in North Florida and working its way into Georgia and everywhere up there. You know, a lot of water damage. A lot of cars flooded out. A lot of just, you know, damage.
Not wind damage, but trees. You know, so much rain that old trees were just falling over. Old, old, old trees were just coming out of the ground and falling over on houses and on carports and everything else. So now it's most of the way.
I'm looking at color radar right now as I'm recording this on Monday at 4.39 p.m. I'm going to have this out into the world within the next 20 minutes. But there's still bands that are heading in this direction. Not big ones like we went through.
They're small ones. So we're not done yet. And I don't know, I was outside about 15 minutes ago. It was raining again.
Oh, man. You know, so there's no mowing the lawn today, tomorrow. But it was something, but I'm grateful that we got through it all. I'm, you know, just absolutely thrilled about all of that.
I don't know if there are any casualties. I have no idea. I've not seen anything on the news. When you're streaming, I don't have cable TV.
I do streaming. But I had access to all three of our local network affiliate stations. And I watched the Channel 28 one because they have the, in my opinion, the best weatherman, Dennis Phillips. And I watched him on Sunday just work through this whole thing.
It was pretty amazing. I was pretty thrilled about the whole thing. So now, starting tomorrow, we get back to business with The Daily Grateful. And we just keep moving in the right direction.
So stick with us and we will continue with all the gratefulness and all the gratitude. And like I say, look in my backyard, by the way, if there's a lake in my backyard. It wasn't there before, but it's there now. It's receding quickly.
