Hush now

The night light wakes before me And sketches my face in the ceiling glow It places my eyes Softly in the corner of stars Where all of my quiet wishes go I whisper, "Are you the dream or the dreamer?" Hush now, little reflection, stay Drifting on the pillow of the Milky Way If you forget my name, that’s okay I will sing it soft until it finds its way Hush now, little reflection, stay Close your shining eyes and float away My fingers trace the moonlight Like drawing a friend on the bedroom wall They follow the lines Curving through the sleepy air Where echoes grow tiny, faint, and small I giggle, "Are you the first or the later?" Hush now, little reflection, stay Drifting on the pillow of the Milky Way If you forget my name, that’s okay I will sing it soft until it finds its way Hush now, little reflection, stay Close your shining eyes and float away Somewhere inside the silver sky A softer copy of me yawns slow She’s learning how to say goodbye To all the things she used to know I tap the glass, it answers back In tiny chimes of sugar light A shy hello, a gentle crack That promises a sweeter night Hush now, little reflection, stay Drifting on the pillow of the Milky Way If you forget my name, that’s okay I will sing it soft until it finds its way Hush now, little reflection, stay Close your shining eyes and float away Sleep, my little echo, don’t be scared Every tender heartbeat says I cared If you lose my name among the stars I will write it back with sleepy scars Sleep, my little echo, float and gleam I am holding you inside my dream
