Husky Talk- Gino Herring

Gino has a fascinating story, growing up in Florida, he was a dominate Tight End and could catch the ball. Recruited by UConn, he committed, and when you come from Florida, weather is certainly a shock. Gino was converted into a defensive lineman because of his outstanding athleticism. It was not the easiest transition, but he put the work in, learned from watching film, and developed into a good player, as well as a talented pass rusher. More importantly, after graduating, Gino was involved in politics in Florida. He saw a system that was broken and instead of complaining, he did something about it. For 20 years, Gino worked in Broward County as the Director of Voter Education. Too many people did not understand how elections worked or how to even register to vote not knowing what was needed. Gino spent time talking with groups to make sure they knew what needed to be done so they could vote. These days, Gino is launching an App called Best Candidate. An amazing idea that should change the system for everyone. It's a Bipartisan phone App that allows candidates to register and talk about the issues. Rules, check and balances are in place to prevent any mudslinging. Candidates share their plans, views on specific issues, there is no agenda here, whether you lean left or right, Best Candidate makes sure all proper information is received by voters. I think the best part is Gino wants to educate people because so many don't know how to vote or register to vote. Best Candidate handles the process of all that, along with telling them who is running for what position in their area. Best Candidate allows people to get the information they need on who is running, their views on issues, plans to make changes if elected, and it's completely Bipartisan. Gino does not have an agenda to push, he want to make sure people know how to register, can find locations to vote, and truly since about making a difference. Best Candidate will take away all the distractions we see from whoever is running and allow them to speak about the issues and how they will make changes. Voters are learning about candidates, while candidates present themselves in a Bipartisan way to ensure fairness. Gino was really outstanding to talk with because he is ambitious and proactive. He saw a problem with the election process, instead of complaining, he spent 20 years helping others by teaching them about elections. Now, he created Best Candidate, which will launch August 20th and will be available in several counties in Florida. I believe this is going to blow up and eventually be used nationally. We live in the best country in the world, but the system is broken when people don't know how to register to vote and don't have information that counts on each candidate.
