12일 오후 8시 32분 54초 경북 경주시 남남서쪽 8㎞지역에서 규모 5.8 지진이 발생했다. 이 지진은 1978년 계기지진 관측이 시작된 이래 역대 최대 규모로 대한민국의 모든 국민들이 진동을 느꼈을 정도로 지진의 여파가 상당했다. 특히 경주의 첨성대가 심하게 흔들리는 모습과 대형 회의장에서 큰 흔들림에 몸조차 가누지 못하며 불안헤 떠는 장면들이 전해지면서 지진의 무서움을 실감케했다. 추석 연휴를 앞둔 대한민국을 놀라게 한 지진 피해를 영상으로 담았다.
