Hype #164 - Pop Culture Pick-Me-Ups

from Hype · host Hype

Selina is off this week, so Pam recruits Hypable writers Kendra and Laura to help break down all the entertainment news we missed the past few weeks! In How We Hype, Kendra has read John Green’s ‘Turtles All The Way Down,’ Laura has been loving ‘The Good Doctor,’ and Pam went to see ‘Goodbye Christopher Robin.’ The new ‘Black Panther’ trailer is pretty awesome and it’s got us all incredibly excited for the movie! One thing we’re not excited about is how badly we failed at getting tickets for ‘Cursed Child’ on Broadway! In other Harry Potter news, JK Rowling recently tweeted an image of Nickolas Flamel’s actual tomb stone and both Kendra and Pam are wondering how he’ll fit into the grand scheme of ‘Fantastic Beasts 2.’ Cher has officially joined the cast of ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’ and Laura has a lot of thoughts on the matter. On the Star Wars front, we finally know the official title of the upcoming ‘Han Solo’ movie. Plus, we’re still not over that epic new trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi!’ Netflix has set a pretty lofty goal for itself and we’re curious about whether or they’ll be able to meet it. Speaking of Netflix, Chelsea Handler has officially ended her talk show with the streaming giant. The CW is officially working on a ‘Roswell’ reboot and Pam is incredibly conflicted about it! (But also, give us ‘Baron and Toluca’ plz thnx!) Laura gives us a bit of insight on Amazon’s new series based off of Lore Podcast. In TV Show of the Week, Kendra is worried about the biggest plot twist on ‘This Is Us,’ and Laura is surprisingly digging the newest season of ‘Once Upon A Time.’ We wrap up the show with some of YOUR listener feedback, including a special request from Amy for things we watch when we’re sad!
