I am listening, I am learning and I am unlearning with Nicole Weston

from Can't Call Your Mom with Nicole Weston · host Nicole Weston | Motherless mothers navigating life after motherloss

Hi love, today I want to connect with you. I want to share with you where I am at and how I am supporting this community. I have been listening, Learning and unlearning, I have been holding space,Engaging in and facilitating uncomfortable conversations, I have been researching, supporting and reading. So I can support each mom in this community to the best of my ability. I want to be clear that “peace, love and sending positive vibes” will not create the change we need to see in our world and will not end or break down systemic racism, white privilege or systemic oppression that BIPOC experience every day. I want to share this with you: Right now IS the time to engage in all the uncomfortable feelings you feel and take action into everything that feels uncomfortable. So you can change it and be different and teach your children to be different. Let that feeling of discomfort in the moment be the alarm that what you are witnessing is not ok and an action must be taken. “When you know better you do better” and the only way to understand white privilege in your life is to engage and ask questions instead of turning away and saying “I’m not racist”. Assuming love, and light are enough to create change is actually contributing to ‘white privilege’. I will be sharing with you resources to engage with and I invite you to take action every day. I invite you to ask questions and share resources. You can send questions, comments to me via email to [email protected] I will not have all the answers and I will do my best. I invite each mama to read, engage and share the resources. Here is where I am continuing my learning and unlearning. Reading "Me and White Supremacy: Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor I signed up for this email so I could read everyday and take action in real time while learning and unlearning.
