"I Am With You": Haggai 1:12-15: Day 5

God doesn't merely call His people back to obedience; He promises His presence and works within them as they respond.And then something beautiful happens.They listen.Zerubbabel listens.Joshua listens.The people listen.Haggai tells us they “obeyed the voice of the LORD their God.”After years of delay, they finally respond.And God's first message to them after they turn back toward Him is only four words:“I am with you.”Not:It's about time.Not:Let's see if you actually finish this time.I am with you.Then God does something else.He stirs their spirits, and they begin the work.They obey—but God is also at work within them, giving them what they need to continue.That's such a beautiful picture of the Christian life.We respond to God.We take the next step.We obey.But even our growth isn't something we accomplish independently of Him.God is with us and God is at work in us.The point of returning to God was never simply getting a temple finished.The greatest gift was always God Himself.💬 Reflect: Where do you need to remember today that obedience doesn't mean moving forward alone—God is with you?
