I BEEN BAPTIZED

If you mean Essie Berry, she is a public figure connected to both civil-rights advocacy and the Lyrical Sermonz project with Mr. Diamond Redd. She was married to Fred “Rerun” Berry, the actor and dancer best known for playing Rerun on What’s Happening!!. They married in 1999, and he died in 2003. Public biographical coverage describes Essie as a civil-rights activist, including speaking publicly about injustices affecting the Black community. In the Lyrical Sermonz / Direct Blessings material, she is featured with Mr. Diamond Redd on songs such as “Gave Myself,” “Lay It Down,” and “Deny Yourself.” The project's descriptions frame her contribution around testimony, faith, healing, and overcoming adversity. So, importantly, Essie isn't just a name attached to Lyrical Sermonz. Her public identity gives you three things that can work together: Essie Berry → Civil Rights + Personal Testimony + Music
