I Can't Believe This Guy Is A Philosopher | August 31st, 2022

from Is It Safe? · host Michael Govier, Luke H., Steve Guile

First things first: Scott is definitely still here. He is getting locked in on a new job. He shall return. You're stuck with the Gruesome Twosome today. Luke and Mike apparently recorded a few shows before this show became official with our original foursome. Luke is ready to start the debt jubilee. The revolts of the past never had the comfort that citizens of the USA have today. Mike realizes he's not having enough meaningful conversations for change in his daily life. Except on this show, where he has the platform to dive in. Luke went down some YouTube rabbit holes with the People's University and Mike can relate to Luke's time suck because YouTube Shorts have taken literal hours away from his life. How does Jordan Peterson end up in your YouTube rotation? One way is when your brother puts your YouTube on random while he sleeps all night. How many times have you found yourself wasting hours with endless YouTube Shorts or TikTok benders? Mike shares an example of how his YouTube algorithm is creating his feed. Luke realizes Jordan Peterson sounds like Kermit The Frog. The fellas compare in real-time. Jim Henson was a little too stubborn by the way. We read your emails and we got a new emailer, Richard, who's an old friend from the past. Richard wants to talk Golden Girls and Sega Genesis versus SNES. The Golden Girls theme song slaps, which gives Mike the green light to fire up a few classic 80s TV theme songs. Zelda Ocarina of Time has underrated musical accompaniment. Danny emails us a super long email about Pete Maravich and mental health. There is more to cover here and we owe you Danny. Mr. Pink and Richard also had more emails for us, but we an out of time. Please keep writing the show. The fellas will get to them further on the next show. That's a promise. Big props to Luke for opening up about his own mental health challenges. We are proud to be honest and forthright with an irreverent, self-deprecating sense of humor. We love you guys! We close the show with Adam's Song by Blink-182. If any of this nonsense inspires you for better or for worse, email the show at [email protected]
