I Chose to Help Rather Than Judge

from Third Chances · host Vera Czerny

Kevin V. Wilson isn't the typical guy you meet every day. He's also not a typical guest for my podcast - but when I first met him and heard him speak (his first time from the stage), his story captivated most of us in the audience. He's natural. I know I needed to hear more of that story, and I know it will inspire many who listen. That's why today's guest is a former Army Ranger, now dedicated coach and speaker who at this time of his life answered his calling to guide fellow men on a transformative journey of personal and spiritual growth. Interestingly enough, he said he felt like we had an unspoken understanding - although we never met, and our backgrounds couldn't be more different. I agree that we meet people in our lives for a reason. I've been blessed to be led to meet so many wonderful people and get to feature their stories here! We talked about everything from personal values, perseverance, role models, and Christian faith, to what it means to stretch men near the limit (or beyond). We talked about why some men feel lost and have nowhere to turn for help. We even talked about what Kevin's biggest fear would be. If you noticed, I like to pick something GOOD that the guest said as a title of the episode. I had a hard time choosing this time! Here are just a few of the best of Kevin's pearls of wisdom I captured from our conversation: The journey may not be just about you We're the most selfish when we're young You can't hit what you can't see There is nothing more attractive to me than authenticity 3 days in (the military) - if you told any of us that we could leave, none of us would have stayed When your mind starts playing games with you I want to be there to help When life is all about you, you're miserable  It's OK to be where you are but it's not OK to stay there Life is much better lived when it's not based on what's going on around us, but it's based on what's going on inside of us See what I mean? Any one of those would make a great title. Which one would you pick?  WATCH THIS EPISODE ON YOUTUBE I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did interviewing Kevin.
