In the other, three years later, a master sergeant from Camp McCarran climbs the mountain above Bitter Springs to find the Great Khan survivor who has been killing refugees with a Republic rifle, one round at a time, at extreme range, keeping his count in casings laid out on stone.He finds him at four hundred and twenty yards, prone, unaware, in perfect light.
