I Had some Help. The History of AI. From Ancient Machines to Quantum Dreams.

In this episode out two virtual presenters sizzle their chips over the history of AI, from the myths and mechanisms of ancient civilisations to the AI we have today. They chat about how early myths and philosophies explored ideas of artificial life and intelligence, the development of mechanical marvels and information encoding systems. Then they dive into the  formalisation of logic and the dawn of computational machines, naming names and revealing inventions that laid the groundwork for modern AI. Finally, our two artificial characters tell us about the cycles of "AI Winters" and resurgences, the rise of machine learning, and the transformative impact of deep learning and large language models, culminating in a look at quantum computing as a potential future frontier for AI.
