Welcome to the best-hang podcast. I'm Mike Bierman as we got Shane. And we're all in different locations. Shane is actually soon as very lovely deck.
It's actually providing a nice sort of scenic view for us for Max and I on Zoom. Max and I are indoors currently. What's the weather like out there, Shane? You look good?
Sounds like a lot of time. You're looking cool. Look what I'm eating. What are those?
Pizza. Pizza buckets? Pizza. Pizza bagels.
Bagel bites. Bagel bites. I'm addicted to bagel bites now. Oh man, it's so funny.
We're recording this around lunchtime and Danica had a dentist appointment. So she took the car. And there's a subway kind of close but I'd have to ride my bike or walk and I've been doing this thing a subway for lunch. Where I basically just there's this thing called the signature series and I've been like, I've had the same subway order like two or three things that I would get for a decade.
But now I was like, hey, they clearly hired some sort of team of chefs to curate whatever this fucking signature series is. This isn't an ad by the way for some way. But basically I started doing the yes man by Jim Carrey and I just started going and being like, get me that one, the pizza one. Give me that weird one.
Give me that weird one. Give me that. And Shane had mentioned in a text group how much he loves this steak and bacon thing with Epra corn sauce. So I tried it a couple weeks ago and it was like, it was heaven.
It was the dream. It's now my favorite of the entire signature. I have it before every basketball game we play. and a chocolate bar by the way.
Which chocolate bar? That day I needed extra energy, so I had Max bring a chocolate bar to our championship game, which I'm not sure. What's that? We'll get to that.
We'll get to that. We can wait. My whole point though is that senior Beggo bite made me very hungry because I know I need to go up and get a sub soon, but I can't even drive up there. So I have to ride a bike.
So I got a bag of lights. When I went to Target in the States, because they had discontinued in Canada, I was all excited. Got Beggo bites. I got also white Castle burgers.
The day I get back from the States with all my Beggo bites, they bring them back to Canada. So now they're back to Canada. Wow. Yeah, it was this big announcement.
Beggo bites are back. It was just like, oh, this is perfect. How do we do big announcement? Everybody was cheering.
They're back. Well, for the Beggo bites community, like that's such a nostalgic food for people of my age. So in my feed, it was a very big deal. Didn't we talk about this?
I think we talked about this on a previous spot. With the laziest ad campaigns was some brand taking a full page ad saying 15 years ago, we never got a chance to say goodbye. Did we talk about this? Yes.
We did talk about it. Wait, I'm off. Yeah. Oh shit.
So it was just a little brand. It was like Lunchables, and then Lunchables. And Lunchables, like 15 years ago, Canada, we never had a chance to say goodbye. So we're doing it right.
Lunchables, thanks Canada for all the years of fun or whatever. And then the next day they take out another full page going, you know what? We're back. Lunchables is coming back to Canada.
Of course. Like, why would they ever possibly put a napkin here? You know who loves Lunchables? Multiple generations of yearments.
Because me and Greg, you see Lunchables. And now Winona loves, I think she just likes the, like how you troll it. Like the, that's definitely bad. It's like, you just want the Kit-Kat that's in there.
but I think she likes the construct, the design of the little packaging and how it's got all its own departments. Like that's something that I think appeals to the kids. So you can make your own little masterpieces. You got it.
You know it's a hot take. I think if you know I'm a man of the people, I'm a community minded guy, I like supporting the mom and pop shops. You know that's what we do here at our girls' music game. I hate to it though.
The way you're talking about like you know subway, hiring some like really good chefs to do it right. I think chains are getting good because I think you're like what's your favorite restaurant in Toronto? I'd be like Joey's. Joey's in the Eden Center which is a big guy you have a joke before.
No. It's so fucking good. I think it's a Vancouver franchise but it's like if you go to Joey's or any of those like casual fine dining places, they're very like the food is spectacular. Like next to Joey's.
Joey's like black and chicken and they have these like goyza things. It's and it's like chicken salad. It's really spectacular. Some ways not hiring chefs though.
To say that they can bake in but the rest of these though. I think someone designed those signature series. It's just developed. Circurators, people who are just like oh they do taste test and give them to people and people chime in that this would taste good and then they give them to people and see how it does.
They're not like chefs though. I think that they bring in like culinary experts to basically develop the 18 signature series subs. Do you know what I'm saying? Like I think they're putting together combos of flavors like I that's my guess I can do that job.
I'd be like the sake is good. Put bacon with the sake. We'll call it sake in bacon and then put popcorn sauce with it. To me I could I could have told you that was an amazing combination.
Shane what would you rank your passions in life right now because you're a very way your mind works to get like very like into stuff. So like name top five things in your life right now. So there's bagel bites. There's bagel bites is top five.
I love it. Yeah. It's funny else thinking about this with you Max because I know I know we're saving it for later but you played so fucking good in our championship basketball game. Let's talk a little bit now.
Okay. Wait. This is small talking to you. What's the talking about?
And that's that's like this is seven minutes because we're other shit. We need to do it. We're starting the time in seven minutes but I am on zoom with two champions right now and I will now see the floor to you. So yeah the championship game.
I was nervous about it. It consumed my whole life for the entire week. I was plotting. I was thinking about substitutions were huge and then I came up with this kind of a risky substitution idea where we don't start our big man John Popolas.
Yeah. He's six five. He's he's a problem on the court. So I'm like it's gonna fuck them up if we don't start with Pop.
It's gonna throw their game plan completely off but I'm sending that my stupidly long text to our text group. Like don't worry boys. Like we probably won't win the first couple games but we're gonna win in the second half. It's a war of attrition.
All this bullshit thinking it's gonna be a really tough game. I want to add as the recipients of these long text messages from Shane it really pumps you up and it actually gives you faith in the system. And when Shane dropped this bomb on the team that Pop's wasn't starting because of like a matchup that he had in mind. I was like man this guy is playing fucking chess.
Everyone else is fucking playing checkers and like we're fucking geniuses like we're like in the hands of such like a thoughtful competitive coach who's thought of every angle. And then the game begins. Go ahead. Hold on.
I just got a question. What did the opposition think by this Zag by this sort of like unconscionable Zag to not start the big man. It was the other team like what the fuck are they doing? Well I thought it was gonna really fuck them up because Bobby Light who is the DP for bulges who we know he's a high energy guy but his tank runs out quick.
So he's saying that you're gonna have to cut all this shit. You're gonna know no no now that the season's over. I can say that he's an excellent player. He's a little bit of a cheater too.
And kind of like yeah he does cheat a little bit but he was pretty open about that last last Tuesday when I played. However, not that I wanted to lose off the top but I thought it would be tough. Like for the first couple games we came out three nothing first game we just killed him second game three nothing against we're up six nothing and everything's by one so that's quite a lead. Then Max scores every fucking shot he takes everything he did when it he might he was like Luca I call him Luca Doncic really but he was it was unbelievable and the other teams stayed around to watch and Myers is secretly hoping we lose because you know that they're kind of arrivals and he's just like Max is unstoppable.
He's just incredible and Marcus is jealous of Max. I'm jealous of Max. I'm kind of mad at Max because you made the game unfun because you were just too good. I wanted it to be close.
I wanted us to run out and hug each other because we just went through this crazy battle. It was the easiest game ever. By the end of it was like oh yeah we're on the championship yeah we're number one. It was just too easy.
We walked all over these guys but their defense was incredible too. It's not like it was it was just like it was easy for us. It was just easy for you Max. Like how do you play that good?
I don't understand. It was in some ways very lucky game for me but I do want to add Mike you'll enjoy this is I go on the court and I'm feeling confident because my coach Shane has like has this amazing zag of a plan and they walk out and Bobby lights on the bench and then I go to Ferg who we're playing against. I go Ferg isn't Bobby like gonna start and then he just starts your shoulder goes no he's just gonna play when pops is in. They're gonna match up against each other.
So we don't play at all. Ferg just like no no no just we have a plan as a Bobby like plays when when pops plays. That's it. It's not fucking complicated.
So here I was thinking that Shane was playing checkers and they were just like no we're just gonna match them up accordingly. It wasn't playing checkers yet. I was playing checkers for sure but he did all of the strategizing did pump our team up and it got us ready for this crazy battle and it was just everyone played so well because we were so fired up that it was just an easy victory. We won the championship but back to the question where you guys were what is my passion.
It's honestly thinking about you and the way you play basketball because I can't believe how good he is and I'm like okay Max is in a super successful band. I don't give a shit about that though. He's like you know you have so much things going for you like you want to bar all this like investments you're smart all this stuff. Paul I'm jealous of is the fact that you're so good at basketball.
I'm just like damn I wish I was him just for the basketball. Don't know how you do it. It's like I'm practicing every day. I'm looking up D1 training routines like this is a 5-11 guard and I have this book like it's about like how to get your mind prepared so you can like play normal the way you practice.
I'm really want to get as good as you Max and that is my number one passion number two is bagel bites and the three four five is gonna be tough but yeah right now those are my walking getting steps in like I'm obsessed with getting 20,000 steps today. Maxi you know Shane's talking about all this prep he wants he's reading D1 training methods and all this stuff. What is your secret? How are you so good about this?
Okay I should know I really just happen to have a good game and the ball is just rolling in so that the rim was on my side and also Chris the guy on the other team was guarding me he's really fast and really athletic but somehow when you get a couple to drop in at first then you get confidence and that's what happened. That's the old carder line the basket look like an ocean tonight. Yeah it started out with the other thing that actually made me feel like a real professional is about half of the game my shot stopped working like other than just my depth perception was off but I was like okay Max stop shooting just drive through the hole drive drive drive drive drive and I just and every floater went in but I normally don't have that like level of intellect when it comes to playing where I'm just like that's my game this is what I do but I was made a very concerted effort to change my approach because of my one thing began to not work so I was very pleased with myself that way. I think I see because I'm not like faster athletic but I see Luca by the way when Shane calls me Luca I get 50% better I get so confident with you calling me Luca and I apparently you were at a sports farm with your brother Mike and friend Randy and I heard the story from Greg that you mentioned that we were playing in this championship basketball game.
I saw people come out and see what people come and then and Randy works for the Raptors he's actually a friend of Mark Myers growing up and he played University of Toronto basketball he's a great player we played against him he hosts Raptors tonight if you all want to go Randy love Randy. Love Randy and then apparently Randy's like oh Max plays basketball like is he good and Mike's like yeah he's great he's like oh it's like it's like it was kind of like Luca and then Randy just burst out laughing. He's like he's so hard. He's like he's laughing if he saw that game he wouldn't be laughing.
But I couldn't get them to come I couldn't get them to come. He thinks Mark Myers is a good player and you played twice as good as Mark. Mark is a much better player than me. I do but you know thing.
No what you see what's fascinating is you're not fast but you're quick you have explosive like you know what to do in those fast twitch muscles really work for you and I was researching how to like fast twitch what does that mean I don't know a lot of baseball players people who are really good at baseball have this where they're kind of slow and concentrated but then they can be very explosive in a very short period of time so if you're good batter you need to have that like you can just see things the world slows down the bussles down and you can just hate it really well and you're a good baseball player right Max that might be your best player. So I think that's where you get it from. You know I see very like calm and a boom. You know I think a fielding you have to be like you're playing shortstop if you're like a middle infielder getting rid of the ball quickly you know pick it up check it that's probably a fast twitch thing.
But yeah it was by the way I want to tell listeners it is so easy to play on a team with Shane because you do all of the shit that nobody wants to do. You don't even care about shooting you were just running around like a maniac guarding the other team's best player tiring them out getting every rebound getting every steal making every good pass so it might jump comes much easier when you're exhausting yourself doing everything else so big shout-shade. I'll agree with that. Yeah well congrats guys you're the chance that no one can take any mark.
Yeah that's it. We went way past and it felt much longer than seven minutes but I was saying you are you a three-time champ now in this league are you a three-time champ? Yes I'm a three-time champ there's me and this one other guy Dave are three times we've been on the same team every year. Wow exciting.
I'm very proud of that but I'm a little little disappointed in you Mike. Yeah because Mike alluded to in our text chain with me him and Popolas he's like wait when you guys play in this championship game and I'm like oh my god Mike are you gonna come watch us? You're like well if it is gonna make you nervous Shane I'm like it will make me nervous but it would still it would feel awesome. I'll see what I can do no promises but when Mike says that he can make anything happen when he says that he's coming but I'm still like maybe he won't come then I find out oh my god he's saying you're like I'm doing it I'm saying I might even bring Greg out.
I mean Greg might come by watch. I'm like okay the chances just dwindled a little bit here. I know you know maybe they go out for dinner and it's pretty hard once the drinks are flowing or having a good time to go to a beer league game that doesn't serve beer. So Pop's is like yeah he's coming I'm like I don't know if he's coming like I don't know if he's coming and then we start playing amazing and then I really want you there so I'm looking around for like you know my dad in the stands like he's like maybe he's hiding somewhere like watching you know through the glass never came.
So I apologize so yeah what the wait was was so you guys had this game and I truly can watch like this happens with me with like baseball basketball especially where it's like if there's kids shooting around or there's like I see like a pickup game with some dudes in the park I will sit and watch for five minutes. I just like watching like at any level any amateur level whatever and so I've obviously listening to his talk with his league of time. I know a bunch of the guys in the league. I would have played in this league if I had the time but it was like so I was like oh this will actually really fun to go and see this championship.
There's also this big Philly New York Knicks playoff game happening in the same night. So I'm like you know what I'm like and you guys were driving back every game jumping and driving back to him so like this makes sense. I'm going to stay in the city and go check out their game and I'll hit you right back but what I'll do is I'll go watch like the first half of the game and then I'll pop over. So my brother's like yeah like let's watch the game.
I'm like great. I'm like well we're gonna go watch this championship game with like Max and Shane and pops and all that and Greg's like oh yeah yeah yeah he's like well I'm really into watching the playoff game. He's like yeah but I don't know if I want to watch a bunch of guys like play like Rekley like he's like you know you know I'm like Greg it's gonna be fun. We'll be our friends.
Well you know we'll bring in a couple beers or something. He's like yeah yeah yeah he's like let's just let's meet up at the thing. So we meet up. He's like oh I invited Randy.
So Randy and Greg are sitting there. It's like it's some paps deal at the sports bar. So they're they're fun. But I'm trying to keep the dream life.
I could show you like literally like I was like yes I was trying to do the sell to Randy. He's like what's Max's game. Like I'm like he's kind of like Luca and that's when you know Randy dismissively exploded laughing. Oh I wish he came to the game.
He would have been blown away if he came to that game and saw Max out there. He retired us. So then I come to meet you guys like after at this point it's like you're about to drive back to Hamilton. So I come to meet you at the game and it's just like good vibes.
Guys are all kind of like drinking outside the rec center at like 10 o'clock at night or whatever it is. Like Max was anywhere. Max the champ just sort of one and left I guess. Everyone else was kind of loitering in good vibes after a long season but yeah.
How was the car ride? Because this is a rare instance where we didn't let Mike get one single word on that car ride. It was just populist and I running our mouths the entire time like we were on cocaine. We wouldn't shut up about the victory.
Every play we had served a memory. We went over the whole game twice. Every single play we went over. It was like listening to a podcast after like it was like listen to the Zach Lopez after the championship but I we hit McDonald's before we drove back to Hamilton.
So it was like I kind of just got sent it back. Eat a spicy have chicken and just listen to these guys. And more so what they were saying I was actually just happy for how happy they were. They were so joyful.
Like they they'd accomplished this thing that really meant something to them. So I was kind of just you know Shain sometimes says like a car ride it means like listening to a podcast. I got to listen to sort of a podcast of two guys sort of going over this straight accomplishment. But why did you leave so quick Max?
You just sort of like win pack your bag and get out. I forget I gotta wake up in the morning. I don't know. I know.
I didn't do my thing. Carry on. The scorepad app here with trusted stats and real-time sports news. Yeah.

Acast.com. Guys speaking of awards though and accomplishments this coming week or CSAs we are nominated. The K-screen is up into this category with you on all the work. K-screen awards and the dessert is up for Best Sketch.
Is that our best sketch show? Best sketch right show is Best Sketch. I can't remember the category but the Canadian screen awards are the highest honor in our country the country's Canada and we yeah this is like film and television this is this is the award so it's actually a really big honor that the dessert was nominated for yeah Best Variety or Sketch. I can't remember the guys there's a lot of cooks in the kitchen if you guys win have to go up on stage to make a speech who gets to do the talking.
Well we saw that they sent a thing out today that said yesterday that said you only get 30 seconds so I I would imagine I we actually haven't discussed this at all but just off the cuff I would imagine it would be Shane would say something you know he's the star of the show he's a co-creator he's a producer it's like it's very of him and his humor why not you seem like you're angling to say something you made a face I'm not like maybe should be me though because I'm the most famous. That's the basketball player from the men's beer league. Do you think you have a speech in 30 seconds max? I think so.
You're the best speech guy too that's another one of your talents off the cuff speech is a very good very articulate perfect humor and gratefulness and humility you're a really good though Shane actually Mike's great too everybody would be good not off the cuff I'd have to plan it who shouldn't have it though let's insult somebody who shouldn't Jonathan Popless that's easy way out of that like 25 minutes so the relationship you have with pop to somebody because like he's your comfort blanket and you need him Shane to do so many things but you also feel like his father because like you're coaching him to be a better basketball player and like you're like giving him all this like life advice if he's meant to he is meant to we need to add mention that he's meant to um what is he what is he to you what is pops to you well it's like my relationship with my wife Alex I'm Alex's dad for sure but she's also my mom she's my mom in so many ways so I've got to have that like I guide her all the time and she's foolish a lot of times but so mine she helps me so much and so he pops out so he's your dad and you're his dad no I'm more like his dad and he's like my son who's a star I'm like a stage like a stage and my son is a star but he sees sometimes it's like why would you do that you don't do that you're a star you do this you're talking so much just get down to the post stay down watch out to the three point line you're gonna be in trouble when we get home where you're gonna be in trouble when we get in trouble when we get in a trail talking to the ref like yeah I did I call him a fucking idiot when he talked to the ref so that was bad adding that was bad that was a responsible kind of the fucking ref and get back on fucking defense yeah but he also knows I don't mean it when I get angry so you know he's like this will blow over over dad's got a short temper, but he's also quick to apologize. I got it. It's a good relationship. But what we're going to say, I was just going to say, I don't know.
Can I disparage the CSA is but you got Rob Max because you did the best name song I thought not that I've listened to any other theme songs, but you should have got nominated for. I should have. I didn't even think about that. That was such a good piece of work.
And that was so that made the show the second you made that song. I was like, boom, this can be a real show. I really enjoyed that. We need to figure out how to politic better and leading up to a nomination process because you know, there's like Oscar campaigns and shit.
We should have found a way to like campaign for your music, you know, because like Shane said, that song is incredible. The elephant song. And also really like the twin peaks thing that we did. That's going to be nominated next year because we'll campaign for it.
I love it. It starts now. The poll taking starts now. Yeah.
But yeah, so we're going to go. You guys have no chance of wear. Do you guys have like suits, shows in or any of that stuff? You were just jacked.
I think just to you guys, we've been so busy. I haven't even looked at it. Like it's like everything is just that whatever is on the calendar, it's like that's where I'm focused on that day. I don't really think too far ahead just because it's like a million things.
Like Shane said, like we're doing a ton of like sort of like pitching and stuff. We're doing like like Shane just came off directing a thing that like had this whole CGI thing with the dragon. I'm directing like two full on commercials in a week and a half. And so it's like the CSA is being wedged into that Wednesday, whatever that is, like a week and a half from now or not even less than we can wait.
Normally I'd like have a pin in it. I'm like, Oh, like I'm this is going to be a really fun night. You know, we maybe we win an award. We get to be around each other, celebrate our work.
But it's just this thing that is like in the distance, like I'm like, I'm like, I got this, this, this, this, my brother and his wife Greg and Laura coming to town Saturday. I'm like a guy when I was going to tennis on this day. I'm like, I got to be at the dentist on Monday. I got this meeting, this meeting that I haven't even able to get the pre joy that I normally get out of a big event coming up.
You know, I like the pre joy, you know, like the, you know, he's excitement to go going away. Are you like me at all, Mike, where you have all this stuff going on that other people might think should be the most exciting thing in your life, but you have something frivolous that is kind of the most exciting thing in your life. That's a good question. Pickle, but it's a basketball.
Yeah. Maybe it's a basketball, watching basketball, maybe watching basketball 100% brings me. That is like my, like when all everything's all said and done and it's like a plot my ass down and it's nine and nine and nine. I can throw a basketball game.
That does make me very happy. But like the thing that's got me preoccupied right now is I'm, I'm having an issue with a thing with my pool and I've had to be, anyone listen to this podcast knows that three of us are not handy men. We, you know, we're, that's not our bread butter, but because this time of year when everyone's opening pool is impossible to get someone to come fix shit. Like it's like, oh, three weeks out, I have had to learn how to fix the filter on my pool.
I'm like deep diving what fucking laterals are inside 300 pounds of sand. I got to dig it out, put it back in. But until I actually fix this thing and my pool is running at 100%. That's all like it's sitting there in the back of my head, like this anchor, like I'm like, I need to get this sorted and I haven't been able to find time this week.
Cause I'm so busy after this pod, I'm going to get a signature series sub, eat that, watch that for 20 minutes and then I'm going to fucking fix that pool for the next four hours. And it is my mission. And I, if I don't fuck it up, I will be very, very, very proud that I accomplished it. Did it myself.
I've been so much like YouTube tutorial shit, like random, random guys from Texas in their backyard. They're like, okay, here's how you can do it with you. You got some sand. He's like, you take this thing off this.
You're all rain. He's like, you do this. He's like, now listen, if you're plumber doesn't have a joint that just does this, you got to problem with your plumber, man. Cause I'm like, Oh man, I can't be cut and pipe, but I'm just like, it's just, it's the same.
Right now, but it will get done. But yeah, Spaske ball, that's my bagel bites. Shane, you nailed it. What's your bagel bites max?
Oh, good question. Um, yeah, what am I into? I'm a very small, just, I love a coffee in the morning. That's my, I do, I'm just like going for a walk, you know, going to walk.
There's a couple of great, a lot of great coffee places around here. So I really like doing that. Um, other little delights, like going for like a 5 p.m. walk with Dan Hamilton is really nice.
Um, just cause he's always got a great energy. Um, but, but really it's like, you know, Ash and I are just working on something, like our, our Kels, I should mention have a couple big shows about Monster Stage, which I hope you come to. Oh, yeah. And there's a lot of work, a lot, a lot of work that goes into it.
And then, and then the back half of the years, quite busy with our Kels stuff, which we're preparing for. So there's like a lot of kind of creative conversations. I'm very luckily spared from all the shit that I don't want to hear about related to like the cost of this or who's available to work, what? And you know, like there's a lot of logistics that I don't have to partake in, but there's a lot of creative decisions that I spend a lot of time wondering.
I call Mike, I'll be like, Mike, I'm working through a bit that I think is funny. Can you make this better? It's like that. I really love that.
And then there's a couple other yesterday. I literally, I'm driving and my phone rings and says Max, you know, like six, 30 or something and Danica was in Toronto. So I just, so I answered the phone. I wonder what's up.
I'm actually curious. So I'm like, Hey, what's up? He's like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm just, I literally just leaving jackassers. Like I'm like, kids in the back.
We just, he exploded laughing. Is it being a domestic gas? It's like, it's just like so amused at whatever my life is. Just that you're coming from Jackassers.
It's like, of course, it's like, I'm, it's not, I'm making dinner for the kids. Oh, no, no, no, no. It's like, we're coming from jackassers. It's the nights where Danica has to go into Toronto or days just to go in for work.
It's like, I pick those kids up from school and I'm like, here are your options. Where are we going? And so I was rolling back and then, and then you were laying out. Yeah, what year you're sort of thing.
And then I can't help. I do like those conversations and I like, yeah, I love that. I love calling people. But yeah, in terms of stuff, I don't know if I have any other things that I'm super pumped on, but I do.
I do want to be pumped on. Sorry. You go somewhere because I'm going to switch to topic. So if you go on a last thing, it's okay.
24 or a show is like a month. I want to be ripped for bud stage. So you guys have any tips for to go? Well, OK, because I noticed that you've been posting some shirt open photos.
You know, you try to hide it in the carousel, but you know, that's the one. Everyone is funny. I thought it was a funny photo and also I'm covering my like my body with a guitar. So it's not just like check out my body because it's not.
There's a reason why the guitars in front of my body. Let's make that clear. Like it's not just like check it out. I don't want to wear a guitar.
No, she was referring to the open like shirt. There's like a sense of photos. It's a way you can look for anybody who can look flattering, having an open button. But my friend my friend gave in a music producer.
He called it a thoughty pick. That's funny. I like that. I was thinking it was like Max is kind of like getting that Shamar more confidence.
He's like dipping his toe in the water. So I wonder if you were going to bring up like, you know, I'm just trying to get rip, get a six back and you mentioned it. You're going for that. You weren't sitting anywhere close to it.
Like the reason why I'm even bringing this up in this particular moment is I'm hungry right now. And I feel skinny. Like hungry. You fit.
Oh, no, I'm hungry. I'm literally hungry right now. So I feel like I wouldn't bring this up if I just had a meal. Would you say you're like an imagined dragons, esque trajectory?
We've been talking about this for years that that guy Dan or whatever, you know, is this the goal for you to rip the shirt off by stage and do a shirtless set? I have no. That guy is a bit much for me. Until you're ripped.
And then it's not a bit much. Then it's like, you know, what it's hot out here. You know, it's outdoor show. Yeah, it is funny though when there's people and good for them, you know, if they're proud of their body.
There's a few people that come to mind that never were like that, but then recently have become like that. And then they just can't help it. Like they cannot help but do the thing where they're just like showing off their stomach a bit more. They're just, you know, she's just like, yeah, you know what?
I like to win Donald Glover, like Child's Game of the Game. You know, like when he had that cycle where this is America and he does SNL, SNL shirtless, and he's kind of got this sort of like fit dad bod, but it's not like, it's just a very ordinary looking body. And he does the whole SNL performance without the shirt on. And I would just felt like it was very like, I kind of like that because it's actually something very cool about owning, like not being self-conscious.
You know, that's the perfect. He was curvy. He still had like payer. He's a little of goodness.
But everything else was sort of good though still. Yeah. Question right. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Post Malone's gone skinny and he shirts off all the time and he has crazy tattoos though.
But when he was having tatus, I don't think I can do that. Did the pain or just not the vibe? There's not the vibe though. I do think I've said this to you guys I think before that I think people would take me more seriously as an artist if I had some tattoos and an ear pierced.
But I think people don't think I'm committed to the artist's life because I don't have tattoos or ear pierced and they think I'm a bit of a fraud. So that's why I'm wearing a necklace now because I'm like, I see I have some jewelry. Some jewelry. You know, if okay, you have to get a tattoo.
Life depends on it. What do you get? Great. This is an amazing question.
What would I who you know, fear across my back? I love the door. I'm scared to get a tattoo. That's funny.
You know what? I feel like I just you know how like how the nut has has just all his dead dogs on his arm. You know, he he has like all his dead dogs. I didn't know that.
But yeah, he does. I get all my friends, not dead friends, just all my friends names. You don't get to get the name. You need to stick around.
Yeah. I imagine there's some friends would be disappointed if I didn't get their name on it. Yeah, that'd be actually. Do you mean Shane make a list?
Yeah, you guys will be on for sure. But there's other people that are on the border and then I'm like, I don't know, you know, psycho. I once a it's been no fear, no regrets. I want to say I was my friend, not a proclamation of myself.
Yeah, I dated. I went on a date with a girl once you had like a no regrets tattoo. That was kind of prominent. But I didn't really see it was kind of like on her neck.
Yeah, but you can see because of the hair and then you can see it. There's years and years and years and years and years and years. Like with a wild night. When you start the night, you see the girls got a no regrets.
They're going to neck. You know, it's going to be fun. But I have the I have the absolute opposite reaction. I'm like, even though it's like, I like to I like to party, you know, I like to like, I need to be sort of the craziest or most volatile person and sort of thing.
Like if I'm with somebody that's actually more crazy than me, that's scary. Because I might go along with it and that's a good fit because she's so she grounds me. You know, she grounds me and I sort of take her out of her shell a bit. Like we marry her deficit, which is exactly why I'm from a podcast.
Me and years ago. But so when I saw it, I was like, maybe it's good to have some regrets sometimes because that's how we learn. Like if you don't have a rich and never learning anything, like this person might they could go. I like I don't trust like I'm nervous.
Did you say that on the date? I think it was a proclamation that was like worthy of like, Hey, good for you that you don't live with regret. I think regret is a little bit healthy. Don't you guys?
Oh, 100%. But there is a thing where it's like you don't even regret that you made the mistake because you learned from it. So sometimes I'm like, yeah, I do regret that, but I'm glad I did it because now I'm a better person to know not to go down that path again and sometimes you have to go down the path to know not to do it again. Yeah, but you do regret it.
It's like you acknowledged it. But I get what you're saying, but sometimes regret is has built in. I wish I shouldn't have done that. And if I could do it again, I wouldn't.
Then it's like your mind's erase and then you simply do it again later. So it's tough. Maybe it's just a conversation starter. That's why you get the tattoo.
Do you feel like you have lost a regret? No, I think that I think that just I think that the thing is that I regret not getting that tattoo. Okay, so close. That'd be good in court if I got you there.
It's like just a judge. It's the gavel. Yeah. Case closed.
I know I have regrets. I have regrets, but my regrets aren't like things that that sit with me. I think my regrets are things that like if I think about, you know, I should have gone left or should have gone right or man that interaction was like, I still cringe sometimes an interaction I had, but I didn't have that kind of interaction again because I learned from it. But it doesn't mean I don't regret that.
You know what I mean? There's like, oh, like why did you make that joke? That made that person feel shitty or something. You know, when I was in my 20s, it's like, oh, don't do that kind of thing again.
So it's not like it's ever present regret that I can't get back from, but it's like, oh, that thing happened and I wish it didn't happen, but that won't happen again. But I still regret still exists. You know what I'm saying? Like, and it felt like with this person, it was like almost like this defiant like, yeah, I do shit and I'm not going to sit around and like wall it felt like more like a life is to be lived and don't ever sort of carry these things with you.
And again, some people do live that way and if they can live burden free and that is how they operate and that's how they sort of are their best selves, then I'm all for it. But I'm just saying I get a little nervous if somebody's like, because no regrets almost feels like no consequences when I read it. Yeah, I can read that way. And I get nervous from people that don't believe in consequences because it's like, this is how we're going to end up in sinking boats somehow.
You know what I mean? Like you do something stupid and it's like, I don't know why I show sinking boat. That could be a metaphor. It could be a literal thing.
I don't know why we get in a boat. Maybe we're stealing a boat in Toronto Harbor and then, you know, I don't know. But yeah, anyway, that's when you said no fear. It totally jogged a memory from many decades ago of this date and this person who by the way, very, very, very lovely, like very sweet person, very nice.
But you know, it wasn't okay. You're on a day with a woman. Yes. Would you rather her have a no fear tattoo on her neck or a no regrets tattoo?
I say no regrets. No fear is a little bit scarier. I think yeah, I think both are in the same, the same book. Well, no, I'll go to the known reds because it's more wistful and relatable.
No fear feels very aggressive. Like it feels. I think it's philosophical and one thing's like the font choice. Yeah, and the location, you know what I mean?
If it's like big block letters, like, you know, on their back or something, like that says something very different than like stick and poke on your forearm or something. Yeah. I mean, no fear, stick and poke. I'd be like, that's fucking hilarious.
Like that is actually kind of like funny to me. It's like ironic, right? It's like no fear though, block letters on your bicep that's different. This is also like 2000 and like, this is, this is everyone has tattoos now and like every girl has like a cool, like a nice little affirmation or something that means something to them, you know, some people have tattoos now.
This wasn't a super prominent thing in like 2004 or whatever it was, you know. Well, I want to talk about baby reindeer and challenges. But I don't know if we have time. We're going to do a pop culture review of baby reindeer and challenges.
We also said in the last episode that I was going to define what going back in time would look like if you could, I didn't put my rules down yet though. So we'll put it into another episode for loyal listeners who are like, hey, I wanted to hear if they would go back if they could in time, although that would have segueed nicely with the no regrets and all that business. And also a big thing happened. Toronto got a WNBA team.
Yes. And our good French is the president of the team. I feel like it's the best spot for it. I feel like we're going to support it more than any other place in the world.
So excited for this team. Like, I get another, like we get another hoop steam that we get to watch and as they get to daughters, we're going to have these new legends to look up to. Yeah. They're coming.
They're becoming the age like in 2026. They're how old are your daughters going to be like all under 10 still. It's going to be amazing. It's going to be so amazing to have these because we were a friend of the neighborhood who has two daughters and they like love Keanu's.
They're such a game. So imagine Keanu's playing Toronto. It's going to be cool. And even just like I'm who said I was watching Caitlin color that I can't know what game was but it literally came on.
I was going through the girls like, oh, sweet. Like the Indian fever games on this is also what happens with a transcendent star like someone like Caitlin Clark who obviously, you know, her games kind of it feels like she can score like shoot from anywhere. So there's something very exciting and electro-boxing player like that. But I'm like, oh, sweet.
I'm like, she's going to come to Toronto and that's going to be a really hard ticket to get because they're going to be playing at what Rico or what's it called? Yeah, which is like one of those like it's in arena, but it's like what half the size of ACC you would know. I don't know. Yeah.
So it's like that's going to be like you should play that show max and get us in courtside. Okay. Yes, which show? You mean the game?
Like, oh, sorry, the game. I mean, but do like a half court thing or opening song or sing the, would you ever sing an anthem? You don't do that. Oh, fuck that'd be good.
Well, we'll figure that out. We have two years to figure it out. Last thing I just want to say, I want to give a shout out to her friend, Teresa, who's the, she's the Messiah of this team now and that's what you got to watch. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah, we saw her in the park yesterday. She's very, very accomplished person and very deserving. I just want to give a shout out to David Lawrence, childhood friend of mine.
He's the team doctor for the Toronto Blue Jays and he listens to the pot and he texts him as a way to work. He said, one of you guys say, if I go back in time, I don't get my kids back. Remember we're talking about that last episode about how it's it's different, the situations, different. And I, Max says, you've had a good run with him.
And then he goes, I don't think you received sufficient pushback for this comment. He goes, I don't think you received sufficient pushback for this comment. So shout out to David for listening and for pointing that out because that is funny. Does David have kids?
Yeah, he just has a, yeah, Rowan. I just met Rowan for the first time. Really cute kid. So he knows.
He knows. He knows. He's been a good run, you know. It's great.
It's great being a parent. Yeah, you know what we can do? I don't know what you guys are like for time. But why don't we do like five minute review on baby reindeer and we can do challenges.
Have you seen me and Danica watch on your last night off? Watch. Watch here. I want you to shame specifically.
I want your take on challenges. I would love to see you because there's a lot. Just a lot of perspective from the sexual perspective. There's a lot going on.
Relationship dynamics. You know what? I got to go. So let's say they reindeer and challenges for a sweet.
I love it. Deal. Okay, so good old Max showing up late. Let's get a pod out though.
And that's what matters. Awesome. So that's it, Max. You've got to go.
Thank you so much for listening. Thank you. It's a great hand. Maybe the best.
