from Let Fear Bounce - Tossing out nuggets of hope · host Host Kim Lengling
David's Nugget of Hope: Choose courage every day. David Russell Shamszad is a real estate CEO, industry leader, and fearless mental health advocate - but that's not the entire story. He also has bipolar disorder and is a recovering alcoholic - that's where the story begins. From an Iranian-American family in Oakland, California. David grew up in the Bay Area and graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in English. In his early twenties, after mania and depression drove him to suicidal tendencies and into a psychiatric hospital, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. For the next decade, David battled with mental illness, addiction, and identity. But after nearly losing his life, he began the long journey of treatment and eventually rebounded into a new life. He began a real estate business in a one-room sublet. Now, the company generates eight figures in revenue and is a regional leader in its field, which includes investment, brokerage, asset management, and real-estate-centered wealth and job creation. He’s been featured on multiple podcasts and interviews to discuss his entrepreneurial journey, mental health, and their unique coexistence. He is also the author of Coming Up For Air, a book about mental illness, addiction, and recovery. To be released in 2024 At the heart of his platform is a deep and relentless purpose to change the dialogue on mental health and addiction and to help others fulfill their potential. David's book, Coming Up For Air set to be released in 2024 Visit David's website: https://davidshamszad.com/ Crisis Hotline - Dial 988 Want to learn more about your host?
