I Was a Teenage Fundamentalist with Troy & Brian

from The Resource · host Becky Felstead

Send us Fan MailWe speak to, I Was a Teenage Fundamentalist podcast hosts, Brian McDowell and Troy Waller about their experiences of being teenage fundamentalists. We speak about both of their experiences of coming into religion as teenagers and how this, for one of them, was the start of 20 years of Pentecostal and Evangelical church involvement, both as a congregant and in leadership. Troy shares with us how he was brought up in a non-religious family and was recruited into the church as a 13-year-old. They both speak of the journey, the impact, the trauma, and the scars that were left in their soul searching and the destruction of their beliefs. We have a really great conversation about the impact of religion in purity culture, the laws that have been shaped by religion, and also the really great conversations that they're having on their podcast and with the people who have had similar experiences to them. This isn't a way of me telling anybody how they should feel. This was a point of view, and anything that I do is always with the intention to help people feel accepted, feel safe, and feel seen. So I hope you enjoy this as much as I did having this conversation.
